Non-gay bro thread a.k.a. Random offtopic stuff.

Liars & Thieves reminds me of something that could have come off Will to Power - which is a positive to me as it's my favourite modern AE album. People get really hung up on Arch Enemy because of how popular they've become, and a lot of people dislike Alissa, but I don't really care about any of that. If the music is good then it's good, and unless someone in the band has done something truly egregious then I'll listen to it. Both of AE's recent tracks sound solid enough to me.

I do wish they'd utilise Alissa's clean vocals more often though. She's a good singer but you rarely hear her use cleans. Her screaming voice is solid as well, but it can get a bit monotonous after a while. Mix it up a bit. It was good to briefly hear some cleans in Liars & Thieves, anyway.

I didn't realise Fellowship had released a new single.

You can tell from the first 27 seconds that they're going in a bit of a different direction with this one. I was instantly hooked, but it appeals to my tastes of power metal with a sugar overload. They seem to have scaled back from the epic, traditional PM of the first album and gone in a slightly more pop-metal direction. The classic Fellowship elements from the first album are still there, but it's definitely different. Still maintaining that upbeat, high energy vibe that I always appreciate though. Matt Corry is also an absolutely incredible singer and his voice is just awesome. The chorus is a huge earworm, feels like they've been studying some Beast in Black. Sick guitar work at the 3/4 point as well, as you'd expect from Fellowship.

Anyway, yeah, I love it. My personal hype level for their new album pretty much shot through the roof after hearing this. Fortunately November 22nd isn't too far away. I rarely get excited for new releases from bands whose album(s) I've loved previously, as I'm been disappointed too often in the past, but I don't think these lads are going to let me down.

I had also forgotten that Dragony's new album had come out on October 11th. Just gave it a listen through and it's certainly a departure from
Viribus Unitis, which I was pretty enamored with when I first heard it in 2021. Hic Svnt Dracones is much more in the traditional Power Metal vein. It actually reminds me quite a lot of Freedom Call, which isn't a bad thing. At first I wasn't sure about the album, but after getting to the end I actually really like it.

Funnily enough, my favourite song is probably the bonus track:

Albion Online is some kind of online MMORPG, which I know nothing about, but I love this track regardless.

Dragon of the Sea is also one I'm enjoying a lot. Really cool guitarwork on this one.

I was going to ask if anyone here ever listened to Sacrilege or not, but I found that Krofius of all people is the one who uploaded their ‘96 demo. Nice. In any case, you guys should check them out, I’ve loved Feed the Cold for a long time, it really made me wish we could’ve gotten some of Svensson’s vocals on Colony (Or better yet, Clayman).

Yeah the general consensus on here when Sacrilege have been discussed previously is that they were great, it's just a shame they only released two albums. From memory Daniel did talk about releasing more Sacrilege stuff in the mid-2000s, but sadly it never happened.
