CRJ Productions, the promoters of CHICAGO POWERFEST, would like to announce that the 5th annual metal festival will take place on Friday, April 20th and Saturday, April 21st at The Pearl Room in Mokena, IL. All ages welcome...plus CD/Merch vendors on-hand, giveaways and more.

Since it's beginning, the POWERFEST continues to establish itself as a weekend event of unrelenting METAL...featuring internationally-known and up-and-coming bands spanning various styles/sub-genres of metal with one common goal - to give fans a show they won't soon forget!!

To date, the first bands confirmed for the fest are Canada's technical death metal artists MARTYR, and Chicago's very own dark metal artists NOVEMBERS DOOM...both currently occupy the 2nd & 3rd slots (5 total) on the Saturday night of the fest. In addition, Ohio's thrash metallers SHATTER MESSIAH, featuring former NEVERMORE/ANNIHILATOR guitarist Curran Murphy and ex-ARCHETYPE vocalist Greg Wagner, have confirmed as the Friday night opener.

The remaining bands, which also include both headliners and both direct supports, will be announced in the upcoming weeks as they become confirmed. Ticket information will also be made available once the line-up is complete.

MARTYR, bitches!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :headbang: :headbang:

The Pearl Room will make a great venue for CPP. There are several restaurants within walking distance, and a hotel right across the street. The stage arrangement is way better than JJ Kelley's too. I don't know how easy it will be to get there from the airport though.

it shouldn't be any harder to get to than last year's venue was. Plus, according to the Pearl Room website, there's public transportation a few blocks from the venue. The venue looks much nicer in photos, although I've never been there. The show will be all ages, according to Chris. The only small bummers that I can see so far are that the tickets will probably be sold thru TicketRapist (according to the venue's website; CR&J haven't mentioned anything about this yet), and that there will probably be no in/out privileges (this is according to Chris AND the venue).

Let me reiterate: MARTYR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

The Pearl Room is LIGHT YEARS better than JJ Kelly's in virtually every conceivable way.

They are going to have to do a little btter than that to get me there next year...Which I am hoping they do.
Really? Novembers Doom and Shatter Messiah have already sealed the deal for me, and neither is considered one of the two headliners. I'd say this festival is off to a flying start.

Hey Bear... have you heard "The Pale Haunt Departure" by Novembers Doom?

ND was pretty decent a coup[el years ago at PF and I wouldn't mind checking them out again but I have never heard of Curran's band...I'll have to check out The Pale Haunt Departure.
