Due to reasons both personal and musical, we regret to announce the departure of drummer Joe Nunez. Joe was an integral part of Novembers Doom for nearly ten years, and while his presence and camaraderie will be missed, unfortunately the time had come to part ways. We wish Joe all the best with whatever personal and musical endeavors he pursues in the future.

We are however pleased to announce that we have already secured a new drummer to fill the vacant drum throne. Returning to the band is Sasha Horn, who last recorded with Novembers Doom on the sophomore release, "Of Sculptured Ivy and Stone Flowers." Sasha's drumming style fits into the new material perfectly, and with this addition, comes a new dynamic and a step forward in musical progression.

The writing process for our seventh release is well under way, and we will enter the studio in early 2009, for a summer release. The musical direction is a return to the darker feeling of "The Pale Haunt Departure" while maintaining the aggression from "The Novella Reservoir" with many new surprises to keep things interesting. The cover art is complete, and we'll unveil it as well as the CD title soon enough.

What??? Oh man, that's awful... Joe was an awesome drummer. :(

Well, I'm sure that Sasha's drumming will be fantastic! Good luck and congratulations to him!

Wow!!! Did not see that one coming.................

Anyhow, glad to hear about Sasha's return.
Always good to be able to work with people you have history with.

No one did. It's not something we decided on easily. Joe is a fantastic guy, and there is nothing but respect for him and what he did for us over the past 10 years. This band is a constant growing process, and unless everyone grows together, something suffers. We couldn't allow that to happen with this bands future.

Sasha is an incredible drummer, and really pushes us to be better, and I believe the next CD will show that, 10 fold.

These recent events we've had to endure have been tough, but they haven't deterred us nor slowed down our pace any in terms of preparing for the next album. Songwriting is moving along swiftly, and we're very excited about how the new material is sizing up. We're quite eager to get into the studio soon and start work as soon as we're able. Hopefully by the time we are able to hit the stage again for you guys, we'll have new material to play for you as well.

I agree 100% with what everyone has said.
Joe was a great drummer, both live and in studio.

Will Sasha's return = the addition of "Of Sculptured...." material in the setlist?? :headbang:

Can't wait for new material!

That's hard to tell. Sasha already knows enough material to play a full set live, and none of it is from Sculptured Ivy. Not yet anyway. He's actually more a fan of the music on Pale Haunt and Novella. But, we'll get to the old stuff eventually. It might be a good time to bust out some material from that CD we haven't played in years. Once the new CD is done, adding new songs into the set, means some of the current songs get pushed out to make room. It's getting very hard to put a set together trying to make everyone happy. It's impossible to do that.

Damn. Joe was a cool guy and really fun to tour with (as are the rest of you guys).

Sad that Joes gone, but its cool that you've got a decent replacement so soon.

Holy crap, didn't see this one coming. I loved his drumming. Wish you luck with future projects Nunez and thanks a br00tal ass ten years, you helped make some awesome music.
