Porcupine Tree is NOT metal, and if you looked at the title of my list, you would see "Top 25 Metal cds of 2002." And by the way, what is your point in continuing to quote me at the end of every one of your posts?

I understand why you didn't put PT on your list ESPECIALLY since you told us but you did say that it was one of your favorites of the year. Since a few observed how "out of place" Symphony X looks on your list and how diverse your listening tastes are I just wanted to point that out also. I'm sorry if this was a problem for you because I stated it only to enhance what everyone had noticed.

Your statement about leaving this section looks pretty immature now doesn't it? Ultimate_Symphony actually called me out to discuss this like it was a problem!

Well, Symphony X is metal, now aren't they? In my stating PT as one of my favorite "non-metal releases," it was just for that, to include PT as one of my faves w/o putting them mistakenly into a list of metal releases..

And actually, no, your posts look more immature than my statement that you choose to continue to quote, as if you're making some grand point.

Which just goes to prove the point of my statement. And btw, it wasn't directed at everyone, just those who deserve it.

This statement is nothing more then what you stated earlier. I'm once again sorry that you didn't comprehend my last post and I have no other way to inform what the intentions were.

And for the record, Nile is not cookie monster death metal, it's not our fault that you can't begin to fathom how to comprehend what's going on in their music....

It's a statement like this that makes you look like the BIGGEST "pompous ass" out here. It seems as though you and Ultimate_Symphony feel that you're exempt from the very thing that your accussing others of doing! It's really sad that the two of you continue to carry on this way and can't live by your own words.

I didn't come on here insulting Symphony X or any other band.. You talk shit about other bands... guess that gets you thru life.. I don't find myself to be pompous, just irritated with people who think they can sum up a band's sound by saying they're "cookie monster death metal.." Why because they don't sound like Symphony X?

I think your real beef lies in the fact that I am posting in a Symphony X forum, and Symphony X wasn't #1 on my list....

Who's your daddy, boy? :goggly:

People who call death metal "cookie monster metal" usually just dont get anything from the sound of the music. Does that mean its "too complicated for them"? I don't think so. Is that often the rebutal people use to make themselves sound better than someone who doesnt like that kind of music? Often times, yes. Does that make the person sound arrogant? Again, often times, yes.

Since Symphony X is a prog/power metal kind of band, its safe to assume that many fans who favor that style of metal (ie - more melodic, less brutal) would get turned off by it and most likely not refer to it in a light way. I don't think that gives you the right to insult their intelligence though. I'll say that I have heard Nile and I think it just sounds like noise. I respect that it is very difficult music to play but I don't care about that, it doesnt sound good to me, and not because it doesn't sound like SymX. And I think I can appriciate complicated music since I do listen to atonal modern composers such as Bartok and Stravinsky, which is very complicated stuff, moreso than any rock or metal music out there.

I think in this matter both sides of the argument are at fault in their own way and just need to chill the fuck out. And just so it doesn't sound like I'm favoring sides, Liquid Tension: quoting Papa Josh in your profile the way you are is extremely childish and does nothing to make things better. It seems as if you just want to get a rise out of people, and if thats the case, grow up and get a life :p.
