OFFICIAL AMERICAN SETLIST THREAD

I was in the TO show, mostly in the front moshing, and it was a great time. I was the tall blonde w glasses in the Bloodbath shirt. :kickass: Some of my friends got right up to the front gate, bastards!!!

Mike's quote of the night: "You guys are great. But that girl, she was awesome.... I could see her snatch". PITGIRL WAS EVERYWHERE. She was f'd up on something, she kept asking to be hoisted up, I don't know why people kept complying.

Best song of the night was The Grand Conjuration. I really liked Bleak. The crowd singing along to In My Time Of Need was great. Nevermore was all right, I like them but my friends hate the vocals, too Dream Theater-esque. And DOTF of course!!!!! :headbang: :headbang:

Rant -- I have to disagree with some of the posts here about moshing and clapping. What's the point of a metal show if you can't mosh and have drunken off-time clapping? This isn't the opera. If Opeth didn't want that they might as well put seats on the floor like they did for the Damnation tour (in Toronto at least). The lesson on 4/4 RHYTHM had nothing to do with the clapping, it was just the lead into BWP which has a very simple 4/4 time. Mike ENCOURAGED the crowd to clap several times during the set! Most people aren't drummers so shit timing is expected at every concert I've ever been to and probably will be that way until the end of existance.

And yes, I was one of the fuckers that I clapped during the slow part of BWP, and yes I moshed during all of the songs. Honestly, in the moment, I didn't realize it bothered people. One tries to be on time, but, you try it after 3 tequila shots and a few red bull vodkas :D

red bull vodka? Man's drink huh?:Smug: All the kiddies with there powerade/various sports drinks and vodkas...:err: What ever happened to a good brew...:kickass:

I went to the show in Montreal last night at The Medley.. it was a sold out show so there was a line going all the way around the block when I got there (I think it was the biggest line I'd seen to get into a show.. seriously.)

Fireball Ministry.. hey I'm sorry but they were boring as shit and I don't see why they were even on this tour. There's so much stoner/doom metal out there that is a million times better than them, they sound like a washed up biker bar band. The vocals get me the most really, they had a couple decent moments in their more melodic moments.

Nevermore was awesome.. I sang along in full to every word of The Heart Collector, and Warrel had the crowd sing the last chorus. They also played Narcosynthesis... mostly stuff from the new album but I really didn't mind because I think it's their best material next to Dead Heart In A Dead World. They played the title track to This Godless Endeavor which was awesome.

Anyways, Opeth... wow. First off here's the setlist, same as the people here mentioned in Toronto:
Baying of the Hounds
When
Bleak
In my Time of Need
The Grand Conjuration
Face of Melinda
Deliverance
Blackwater Park
Demon Of The Fall

The place was packed to the gills.. I had an elbow or a shoulder jammed in my back half the time and people were shoving each other every which way to try to get a better spot and get closer up front. That was probably my only gripe of the evening, but it was a major one because it was distracting from the band to have to worry about getting nearly knocked over and getting suffocated if I turned my head the wrong way.. eventually it got a little bit better but not much.

Opeth played a perfect and amazing set, and Mikael had a great sense of humor.. after playing Face Of Melinda he started telling us some story about a gay porn soundtrack in the 70's that got scrapped because it was just too damn gay... and then said, "it's called Deliverance." hahahaha. When they got to the acoustic part in Deliverance I yelled out, "GAY PORN!!" Yeah. I couldn't help myself.

Some 2 idiots kept yelling out "THE DRAPERY FALLS!!1!!11!!!" between every single song, it was annoying as shit. They'd already said that they weren't taking requests and from this board I knew that they likely didn't put that in their setlist that night because, seriously, anyone who's seen Opeth since Blackwater Park has heard that song live and I'm glad they played Bleak and the title track instead, they sounded amazing.

I'd like to add that The Medley has always had great sound and it really did Opeth justice, despite the problem of being packed to the gills and sweaty it was a great venue for them to play at and I had an awesome time. Probably one of the best nights of my life overall.

Some girls in the balcony were teasing guys by shaking their titties, and obviously getting off on the attention.. but yeah it wasn't that hard to get them to show the dirtypillows.

Was at the Montreal show too!

As usual, great performance!! 6th time i see them and i still can't get enough!

I rarely seen The Medley packed like this...
I had a really great spot at the balcony which is always a plus in such big crowd like this!

The sound was great, good setlist although i prefered the setlist from the last time before (April Ethereal, The Moor...)! But "When" definitely worth it live!! Wonderful song! The new songs came really great too!! One big thumb up for the drummer which i forgot his name... who replaces Lopez... he did a great job! And it was really funny to hear Mikael joking around with the crowd... such as the headbanging lesson, insisting that when you headbang you should go forward and not sideways like Mendez... hehehe

Anyway great night! And another highlight is also Nevermore, god i love this band too... live they're really something to see!!

Thank you Opeth, i'll eagerly wait for your next tour in February!

I think Paradox gave a good review of the show in all... Man, i was fortunate enough to know one of the sound guy from the Medley. After his duty with Fireball, he came to chat with us for a bit... and said that he had to babysit the equipment for the rest of the show.

Out of the blue, my Bro asked him... what about the sound booth on the balcony? He said it's only use for the lightning guy.... nobody is there deside him... so we ask him if it would be OK for us to get there... He said give me 5 min.

He came back and said.... follow me!!!

I witness this fabulous presentation of both Nevermore and Opeth like i was sitting in my living room with a pit below me.... quite a night to remember...

lmao, how many people have thought the hot topic pic is real? too many to count. that's pretty damn sad

I didn't even read this board until I came here looking for someone selling a ticket the other night, and I've known that picture was fake for what, 2 months now? hahaha

Same setlist as the last couple of shows. I was sad they didn't play The Moor, but i can hardly complain. What a fucking awesome show. I can't wait for them to come back again. I will definitely be seeing them a second time. Peace!!

YES! My first time seeing Opeth live and it ruled the day!

Set list (or very close to, not sure if I got the order correct, but I'm close anyhow):

Baying of the Hounds
When
Bleak
In My Time of Need
The Grand Conjuration
Face of Melinda
Deliverance
Blackwater Park

encore:
Demon of the Fall

So the same as it has been it looks like. It was freaking amazing. Mikael is so damn hillarious. Before Deliverance he said "This is a very slow song, so sit down and relax or smoke or whatever." And while introducing the members, when he got to Per he said "This is the man who has corrupted our band, made us sound cheesy" haha, that was classic. And before TGC he said "This song has evil lyrics. I mean EEEEEEVIL. I would even say satanic. Is that ok with you? You aren't scared are you?" or something close to that manner anyways. He was just crackin me up. The sound was great, they played flawless, and man was there ever a packed floor. Fucking intense! It was awesome. Everything I had been waiting for plus some.

That looks like the setlist for last night. I am stupid however and may not remember exactly but that looks right to me. Mikael was hilarious in between songs. I loved when he was like, "Some time we will do a tour where we take the audience's requests. This is not that tour..." (I might not have the exact words right). All in all an awesome concert.

I liked Mike's death metal school throughout the show in Philly, teaching everyone the different growl types..."keep it tight...'ARH!'" Then teaching everyone how to headbang properly. "Don't do it side to side. The only one in the world allowed to do that is Martin Mendez. We call it the 'no-no' headbang." Mendez looked all embarrassed and shy at that.

see you all in springfeild on saturday

Lol...that was pretty good. Pretty much everything Mikael said in between songs was fucking hilarious.

I loved most of the quotes, unfortunately I missed the headbanging school because I left during Deliverance :(

Next time I go to a GA show, I'm bringing a damn folding chair. It's tough standing for 3-4 hours

Yeah...it definitely is. By the end of the show my feet were killing me and I could barely keep myself from falling over.
