Official Bloodstock 2009 thread

Bloodstock are delighted to announce the following:

It is with great pleasure the Bloodstock Team can announce the second headliner for this year’s Bloodstock Open Air festival. In order to give you more (head)bang for your buck, this is another co-headline slot, with two great names from the world of metal. First up are Epic Metallers BLIND GUARDIAN. No strangers to Bloodstock, the German metallers are looking forward to their return. Singer Hansi Kürsch checked in with this message:

“It’s almost seven years ago since we have played Bloodstock for the first time. Still we have never forgotten our first appearance in front of a fantastic British audience. Easy to imagine how thrilled we are by the given chance to play there for a second time. I expect nothing but some outraging bards singing our songs with us and a band in perfect shape - take that for granted.

Next up, the UK’s very own blasphemous boys CRADLE OF FILTH will be hammering the final nail in the evening’s coffin for what promises to be a spectacular set. With a penchant for assaulting spectators not just aurally, the Suffolk six-piece’s live shows often resemble a horrific circus with all manner of freaky stunts providing the backdrop for their dark cacophony. As COF frontman Dani Filth eloquently communicates his excitement on their upcoming appearance:

“Cradle Of Filth, metal forged from the hot friction of wanking nuns, are very much looking forward to headlining the Bloodstock heavy metal festival this Summer, especially knowing and loving most of the other bands playing on the bill over the three day weekend. But obviously not in a gay way. Carcass, Kreator, Moonspell, Arch Enemy, The Haunted, Apocalyptica, Satyricon, Enslaved, Saxon, Gwar, Candlemas, Turisas… this line-up alone places this up-and-coming British festival right up there with its sometimes-a-pain-in-the-arse-hard-to-reach European rivals. So hail to England! Hail to Bloodstock! This is a proper metal festival for proper festive metallers. No shoddy haircut screamo pap allowed~! FOAD! (Insane screaming continues and then fades to black….)”

Looks like Turisas and CoF are gonna be seeing a lot of each other!
At least Blind Guardian are good!!! Still, 1 out of 4 headliners...

hehe you beat me to it Kate :).

The next headliner announcement is next Tuesday.

Also following on from previous feedback they will be getting Bloodstock ale this year, and have said bar prices will be cheaper than last year. they will have a big beer tent thing and want some name ideas, so if any of you have any ideas for names let us know :).

Have a nice weekend guys,
I will be back Tuesday :)

Bloodstock 2009 and the Vikings have landed - and they're after Blood!

Bloodstock Festival-goers will have the chance to meet the infamous warriors of the Vikings and see combat up close, as Vikings mingle with the fans and challenge each other to personal duels of honour. The Norsemen raiders’ reputation for fierceness will be on display over the weekend. Clashing shield to shield, the warriors will test each others’ strength in ferocious combat. Viking duals are always fought at sword reach, up close and personal.

The Vikings are a Dark Age Re-enactment society with hundreds of members across the country whose aim is to bring the past back to life. They will be representing raiders and traders from across the Viking world, from Constantinople on the Black Sea to Iceland, from Scandinavia and the British Isles.

Dressed in authentic costume, carrying replica metal weapons and trained in the martial skills of the Viking Age, they aim to entertain and give a brief insight into the warfare of the infamous seaborne raiders. It is a glimpse into the lives of the men and women who, from the 8th until after the 11th century, took Europe by storm.

Feel free to stop and talk to the Vikings. They are happy to answer questions about their weaponry, Armour and the history of the Viking Age as well using their carefully honed skills to recreate battles. These warriors are immersed in the history and attitudes of the Northmen of a thousand years ago.

THE BATTLE SHALL BEGIN AT BLOODSTOCK 2009 !

Regards

Have you had any since the festival? I haven't been able to find it anywhere except a petrol station that has many different varieties of it (I drink more than I should, as it's always on offer) :)

They apparently sell it in Norwich....I say we pillage!

Tbh I'm happy with the line-up and atendees any other good bands are bonuses from now on!

Oh aye, after the amount of fun we had at hammerfest, despite only seeing about 6 bands, i'll be perfectly happy with Bloodstock no matter what. We have Gondor and forky forky and get in the picture, how could we not have fun :p

Hell yeah on the Wolf front!!!! I look forward to being harassed all weekend :p

Gwar fail epically though, that's no excuse AT ALL!!! (bad Gwar, not Bloodstock's fault though)

Still, Mika, more 'I love you, did I tell you I love you, I love you you know?' :p
