Ok Im Done .......

C'mon... Don't be that harsh... He is fed up as everybody at least once since registering here. I didn't see that bashing when Murphy announced his departure, and it was for the same reason, just more extensively and accurately explained.

Jason, listen to the serious posts here, this place is still an awesome source of useful information, the only difference is that you have to dig more and skip more topics to get it.

Cheers!

OT: MaellaJohn and Mattayus, one of you guys needs to change your avatar because it's confusing. I say Maella because Matt had it first. Just sayin'. Carry on...

Oh my god this thread is so good.

Sorry :(
Mattayus has had his for wayy longer than I've had mine, but it can't be helped to change the picture. At least for a month or so. My computer's hard drive crashed and it's now like a netbook, in that I can't really do much file storing at all, really, because I'm forced to run Ubuntu off a flash drive to get on the internet. So I can't Photoshop myself another beautiful picture.

At least, until I get a macbook here in a month or so and get photoshop for that.

I do see what he means though, seems like lately there's been so much of the same joey/bulb/core/what do I need to start my studio threads started by guys who are clueless that it gets hard to sift through to find the threads with actual discussions. I also find alot of threads where someone asks a question and tons of guys who were Noobs a few weeks ago come charging in with stock answers over and over again when in reality they haven't a clue what they're talking about. I suppose what I'm saying is that its guys who are new to this and are bedroom warriors with most of their experience being samples and guitar sims are the guys answering alot of questions, fewer guys who actually record bands regularly are chiming in with their real world wisdom.

While i'm slightly ranting I'm also gonna say this place is getting alot like a guitar forum lately. While obviously pickups/pedals/guitars/amps make a difference with production the threads about this stuff massively out weighs the number to do with consoles, mics and outboard and the likes. It's more of an observation than a complaint really. It's something I noticed and it kinda annoyed me when I did.

Not going to lie, I fit the description of the "bedroom warriors" you describe. And in all honesty, I think I do it because I want to learn more and it seems sharing ideas [even if they may be shorthanded because I really don't know shit about producing right now] helps me to learn, and others too.

I hate the idea of annoying people in the process of learning, but I guess coming into the world of producing, you kind of want to learn everything really quickly and that leads to the misconceptions that presets are the sure-fire way to go and stuff and all the other misconceptions that noobs have.

I hereby formally apologize for anything stupid I've posted and will post. But it's all in my quest to learn to become skilled in this. So long as I have no money, I'll be using amp sims, drum samples, and cracked plug-ins, shamelessly, all whilst scouring this forum for tips and soaking in all the information I can to not suck ass at this.

To give input that's ON topic, there's a possibility that guitarguru is actually trolling everybody right now.

Please don't leave Guru, I know how you feel, that guy pisses me off all the time,
but you're one of the "good guys" and most of your comments are pretty funny
and we would have to stop making fun of fat bitches porn.

We love you! (Besides Jeff :D )

There's a grown man having a meltdown over an internet forum and you guys are suggesting he stay?

Maybe a break would do him some good? It did for me. When internet forums become SERIOUS BUSINESS it's probably healthy to back off for a bit?

GG is just stressed guys, give him a break. He's had some shitty band fucking hollering at him, I can imagine the stress. Most of you fuckers haven't done dick except hang around here leeching techniques anyway. (not that I haven't done the same!)

I check this forum much more often than is healthy and i've failed to notice a problem. There seems to have been more good threads recently than normal.

But tbh it sounds like there's something else going on for you and you're just venting here, so best of luck to you in getting over/around/on-top-of/inside whatever's bothering you :)

I've definitely noticed a decline in quality recently - much more so than a year ago when the other guys around here had the same feelings. So I've not been posting as much. Maybe I've just peaked with the Sneap forum, and now I can only shit myself over and over whilst suffering from erectile dysfunction.

er....goodbye....until tomorrow...

lol

cool story bro

Why is everyone feeling the need to belittle the situation? I haven't been here long, but long enough to know he's a stand-up dude who has been a lover of this forum for a long time. Forums are something a lot of people enjoy, and see as a recreational thing just like watching tv or playing guitar, rather than seeing it as a source of knowledge and anecdotal baloney. He's obviously one of those guys that simply enjoyed coming here for the social, as well as educational side, and it's now become not-so-enjoyable for him.

Yeah, alright, maybe a bit of an overreaction in some people's opinion, but not cause for piss-taking and belittling his opinion/feelings. As someone else already pointed out - clearly he's having a shitty time at the moment.

Since i joined this forum, there´s always been someone saying the forum is watered down, or there´s a decline in the content etc., but im still feeling this is one of the best places in the internet, i also agree there´s much trolling or whatever, but the good stuff around always prevails, i also check this place everyday, in dangerous doses, hehe im addicted, and i don´t even have a studio or record bands. i just share the same opinion, just ignore the shitty stuff here, or the annoying people, there´s no reason to leave, cause this place will always have something to give.

He's also been someone to violently destroy noobs, moreso than reasonable (IMO of course), and also to be pissed at pretty much every mistake a new user would do in the forum (this is getting a bit OT, but for example, the SSL meme got old way quicker than most old-timers here would admit, and probably just pissed the guy off - even if he deserved it at the first place, props to him for not letting go and staying here). It's the Internet. I like you Guru, but you gotta chill a bit, and whether the times are hard or not, this is a forum for fuck's sake.
