Beneath pale sardonic skies
Yeah, of course I know that you're all great fans of cinema, don't you? :)

So my question: what films do you like most, what genres, maybe even actors, and actresses, of course.
This time the topic starts.

To many to mention but here´s a list:

° Leaving Las Vegas
° Fargo
° Under Suspicion
° Reefer Madness '38
° Memento
° Brotherhood of the Wolf

° Braindead (Dead Alive)
° Evil Dead I,II and Army of Darkness
° Killer Klowns From Outer Space
° The Pit and the Pendulum
° Robot Monster (a must see!!)

° Iron Monkey
° Fist Of Fury
° Once Upon a Time In China
° ...

° All movies from Ed Wood
° All Russ Meyer movies
° All movies with Bela Lugosi
° All Spaghetti Westerns from Sergio Leone
° All movies from A.Hithcock

Here are some that I can remember now, by director, with the special ones marked.

Kubrick ("2001 A Space Odyssey", "Paths of Glory")
Lynch ("The Straight Story", "Lost Highway", "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me", "Dune")
Scorsese ("Bringing Out the Dead")
Gilliam ("12 Monkeys", "The Fisher King")
Kurosawa ("Akira Kurosawa's Dreams")
Fridriksson ("Englar Alheimsins" (or "Angels of the Universe"))
Tarkovski ("Andrei Rubliov")
Shakhnazarov ("City Zero")

The last two are Russian directors, so the names may not sound familiar...

As for me I like good (I mean really good) interpretations of Stephen King (like Green Mile, Showshank). Although I don't know him much (to my great shame). And some really great films, they are little but they are:

Devil's Advocate
Insider
Vanilla Sky
Seven (masterpiece)

2D Mullholand: Hey, they sound similar! :))

There are too many movies I like to mention them all, but here are some directors whose work i really enjoy watching.

Jim Jarmusch (Dead Man, Ghost Dog, Down By Law....)
Tim Burton (Ed Wood, Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands....)
Kevin Smith (Chasing Amy, Clerks, Dogma....)
The Cohen Brothers (Fargo, Oh Brother where Art Thou, The Big Lebowski...)
Peter Jackson (Braindead, Heavenly Creatures, Lord of the Rings....)
Monty Pythons (Life of Brian....)
David Lynch (Lost Highway, The Straight Story....)
Some other movies I liked a lot are :
Almost Famous
Amores Perros
Fight Club
Girl, Interrupted
High Fidelity
Lola Rennt
The Matrix
Memento
Nurse Betty
Requiem For A Dream
Rosencratz and Guildenstern Are Dead
Wo Hu Cang Long

Here are just some of my favorites off the top of my head:

American Beauty
PI
Requiem for a Dream
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
The Seventh Seal (not 'sign')
Fight Club
Mall Rats
Legend
Almost all Tim Burton films
12 monkeys
Young Guns 1 and 2
Ninja Scroll
Road Warrior

Can't believe no one has mentioned the original Star Wars trilogy!?!
And the best Monty Python ever 'Quest for the Holly Grail'!!
And I have to mention Edward Norton who IMO is one of the best actors ever! Well and Liam Neeson and many more... But still!

:) Those Russian directors :)
If remembered of Russians... "The Land of Deaf" probably made the greatest impression on to me.

Ah... I guess you meant "familiar", not "similar".

Now that I think of it, another great Russian movie comes to mind: "Tired by the Sun" (Nikita Mihalkov). I was truly impressed.
