Despite the fact that Blackwater Park and Damnation is my two favourite albums. I simply love Steve Wilson's contribution to these album.
So is Deliverance.
'Atmospheric' you say? If you don't find that on especially Blackwater Park, I either advise you to get a seriously ear-check, or change your speakers.
I really don't think that earlier opeth albums are more evil.. Ghost Reveries is by far the most evil album, imo.
Don't get my wrong, I love all their earlier work, all the albums, all the songs.

Here is another thread which provides plenty of material with which I may guide you guys.
Let's start with the OP:
Granted it was very, very vague. Accusatory. Asked deep questions like, "What the hell is going on?" and offered "helpful" tips like, "Stop hanging out with Steven Wilson"...
This post was basically SPAM. What is to be done with this information or lack there of?? The OP certainly has a right to his/her opinion.. and is welcome to express said opinion here. However, saying "Three below par albums on the trot!!!" with no explanations as to why he feels the records are below par is SPAM. "We need more atmospheric and evil sounding compositions" without explaining what he means by atmospheric and evil is useless.
The trend on the forum for the last couple of years has been to have members post threads such as this SPAM which are then SPAMMED TO HELL with more SPAM...

Perhaps because the OP was SPAM you feel no obligation to follow the guidelines and fight SPAM with SPAM... but you are obligated to follow the guidelines. That's why they are there.
They way I see it you have a couple of choices when viewing threads/posts such as this. You could gnore it since there is really nothing to answer or comment on. If the purpose was trolling... no response makes the troll a failure and he'll quit, leave or I'll ban them. You could ask for clarification from the OP. You could PM me pointing the post out and I'll handle it. Or you could SPAM the hell out of the thread... prompting posts like, "This is getting worse then the dreamtheater board" which may or may not be true (I've never been there) but it highlights the reputation this place now has. I've done the best I can to make it clear that this place is what the members make of it. I have instructed, advised and guided you ..... including the creation of the guidelines found at the top of the forum with the help of Moonlapse, hoping the forum would right itself and although it's been worse... it needs to get a lot better. Ultimately I guess the buck stops with me since I in fact have the power to fix this place. If you have taken the time to get this far in this post there is probably still hope for you. Consider what I have written and review the guidelines and please assist me in making this place a pleasure to visit by being positive and civil even in dissagreement. If that sounds bad to you just leave now because you will be leaving eventually anyway. My solution is simple: The board is what the members make it. It is a bit cliche but if you're not part of the solution, you're definitely part of the problem and I'm going to be much more active in removing the cancer from this board. Opeth has been nice enough to allow me to moderate this forum and the least I can do is follow through with my end of the deal.... and it starts immediately.

What was the lesson again? Opeth fans (in general, at least, according to this forum) are imbeciles with no idea about anything relevant to music other than their own arbitrary and subjective gibberish? Shit, I think I made that point in about 6 threads already.
