Ok Opeth...

What was the lesson again? Opeth fans (in general, at least, according to this forum) are imbeciles with no idea about anything relevant to music other than their own arbitrary and subjective gibberish? Shit, I think I made that point in about 6 threads already.

Thats pretty ballsy.......... well ballsy for the internet, actually no it isnt. I'm sorry i got your hopes up. If it was infront of a pack of opeth fans it would be ballsy but something like that over the net is just gutless. And if you did make that point 6 threads ago then go read over them and then pretend you wrote another one and then dont write one, ok? Thanks, thanks alot.

And for this thread starter errr who the fuck are you? Opeth's music is OPETH'S music. It doesnt belong to the fans. If you dont like the musical path mike and the band are going down then stop listening and please stop acting like you actually have a say in the matter.

TIP: Next make some predominant points that are at least seemingly constructive about why you dont like the last 3 albums and do not palm off this "we need to talk" shit.

And Samsara the spam is here because there obviously is a lack of consequence for the people that continually do it. I mean fuck if i shit on someone here i give a reason, see im nice.

Faggot!
You fucking Knob
Eat a dick
This has to be a joke

Yeah, yeah. I'm just hiding behind my computer and other cliches... Fact is I wouldn't even bother with half of these people unless they were paying me for my time to show them how musically inept they really are. I don't know how you could be offended unless you count yourself among the imbeciles I was refering to. You may have missed several key words there. I am over defending every single thing I post on here though, the general intellectual level and capacity for logical thought here is demonstrably of a pretty low standard.

On another note I agree that the music any given artist, Opeth or otherwise produce, is subject to their own point of veiw. It's all well and good to express an opinion on the matter though, but the way that opinion is usually expressed and on this forum in particular comes across as inept musical elitism by boneheaded fanboys/girls. So ho hum.

Holy shit, you're stupid. What the fuck does this have to do with his last comment? He wasn't attacking Opeth's music. He was attacking Opeth's fans. And let's face it here, he's right.

He's got a point.
(firstly I dislike MAYH so I dont listen to it, I may leave it out here and there)

Opeth's first two albums were inspired.
Since they started writing to a formula (Godhead's Lament, Ghost of Perdition, The Drapery Falls, etc.) they seemed to lose some of that inspiration. Just on the side, I love those three songs.

Especially in songs like The Grand Conjuration, you can hear that the inspiration for writing inspired music is gone. Deliverance was losing it big time. Ghost Reveries has its moments, but you can just hear that the sound is not Opeth. There is Roadrunner all over that damn record. Beneath The Mire? The Grand Conjuration? Can not stand those songs.

However on the other hand, I can't deny that theyre amazing musicians, its just that that doesnt shine through as much any more. But I think it still does, I mean, I love Ghost of Perdition!

just my opinion though

Are you kidding? Opeth signed to Roadrunner AFTER they finished recording the album!

GR has extremely good, advanced and well-written songs produced soley by
Opeth. Engineered and co-produced by Jens Bogren.

Why does it sound different from the earlier albums? Because Mike was more picky and
the band had rehearsed before they entered the studio.

Just your opinion: Well, what have you based it on? You are being a complete moron for
thinking GR is overproduced by Roadrunner! (I'm not mad, just amazed by your ignorance).

Kind of speaks for itself, really, but I will state the obvious. What have you based your opinion on?

Actually to be fair, I was "attacking" Opeth's fans based on the way they are generally represented by the members on this forum. This doesn't mean I necessarily hold this opinion of every Opeth fan, though being fanatical about any band is a waste of time in my opinion. Also, to be fair, I think that any given band has a legion of know-nothing fanboys and clingers-on that rant and rave about arbitrary gibberish they know little to nothing about.

I've based it on that almost every person I meet that like
Opeth really love Ghost Reveries.

I don't have to prove my taste, but whether it's advanced?
Well, my father has been a classical composer for more than
thirthy years. He knows advanced and well-written music by ear!

Why I think he's a moron? Well, he hadn't really checked the facts
before claiming that it waas produced by RR!

I fucking rest my case! :D

Well, my father has been a classical composer for more than
thirthy years and a schooled composer since like twenty
years ago. He knows advanced and well-written by ear!

I fucking rest my case! :D

Arbitrary

It has everything that makes Opeth Opeth. Heavy as hell, melodic, great solos, killer drumming, big in parts, tight in parts. I think it is the best song on GR myself.

That was really the only relevant portion of your post.

I think I just said that.... and that era has ended.

Kind of had a point sometimes but what a hard-on...

Mr. Hat from Sofia's World will have to learn to think for himself.

It pained me on some level to do that to be honest. He was very smart and expressed himself well... and had a serious level of musical theoretical knowledge. He was also correct in his observations of how this forums members act, post and generally butcher logic and civility. I had asked him via PM to use his assets to lead by example.... However, he unfortunately chose to let his scorn for these characteristics dominate the theme of most of his posts. On the other hand I don't feel bad because I don't think he really cared if I banned him or not.... and now he's free to find another bastion of musical ignorance and poorly executed arguments to lay siege to.
