My first aqcuaintance with Opeth was when I heard the Candlelight sampler featuring "The apostle in triumph". That was in early 1997.

The first actual album I heard was "Morningrise" in 1997. I did not quite like it as a whole until last month or so. (I am too analytical with music at times and "Morningrise" has a wandering touch in its transitions between parts that makes the album their most difficult yet. I love it now though!)

Many things consititute the so-called 'perfect album', and lyrics play a big part in that. So, being that "Still life" has lyrics unsurpassed by Åkerfeldt on any other album, and that it also features a really good story, it gives the album some more points. Musically it really struggles with BWP as to which one is better..

You can imagine that seeing Opeth play live this summer with the set consisting of four of my favourites, plus "The leper affinity", must have been a complete orgasm. Which it really was.
