Opeth is a great band

If Opeth only released Orchid, they'd probably be considered the premiere avant-garde band of the era. That was an inventive album.

Morningrise did away with some of those elements, and felt like a more coherant release for it. It's their best work. It really worked on an emotional level for me, while other releases seemed pretty emotionally hollow, especially GR. That's just not a very good album. I don't know how any non-noobs prefer it to the obviously superior Blackwater Park. GR is just a castrated version of that album. BWP has a pretty dark atmosphere, and the work with the ebow is evokative.
