Someone mentioned Opeth and Strapping Young Lad as tour mates, I've actually seen that happen, lol. The first time I saw Opeth here in Dallas, the Line up was Opeth/Meshuggah/Strapping Young Lad/Lacuna Coil. It was when Opeth was touring the US with Lacuna, and SYL was touring with Meshuggah. Well for some reason they were both booked at the same city on the same day...at the same club. The Canyon Club, closed down sadly. Anyway they just put the two tours together, so you really got two shows for the price of one. I was there for Opeth of course, but it was nice to see Meshagguh and SYL open for them.
However, seeing Opeth playing a 30 minute set in front of a bunch of nu metal or metalcore kids is really gonna be a big dissapointment. If they play near, I'll go, just cause I want to see them again, and want to support them, but the rest of the show after they finish will be an even bigger letdown then it would have without them.
Still, if it gets them more money and exposure I guess that's a good thing. Mike and the others have to eat, right? And I don't think he's the kind of guy to ever sell out musically, even if a lot of metalcore and trendy kids start buying the albums lol.
Nonetheless. Another headlining US tour!
