Opeth-Watershed

The album is not as good as I'd hoped it would be - some of songs seem to drag on & on. The Lotus Eater is a cracker though, up until the funny keyboard passage anyway.

The only thing that makes the album inferior to GR is the lack of heavy songs. There needed to be at least on more long heavy song.

Pretty much every album they've done is better than Ghost Reveries. Watershed is quite good with the exception of the terrible transitions in Porcelain Heart and Hessian Peel. I mean, Burden and Heir Apparent are probably some of the best songs they've ever written.

ghost reveries is one of my favorite albums of all time, but i agree with the transitions part, the thing in hessian peel mostly, i dont like the transition from burden to porcelain heart much anymore, and theres one in the lotus eater that just makes me say "why the fuck" every time i hear it

I haven't bought the album yet, but I will get around to giving it a listen and deciding whether or not I should buy... A friend of mine did send me "Coil," though, and although it's really chill, it's a very pretty track.

It just seems to get better the more i listen to it.
Just ignore the haters and buy it...make sure to listen to it atleast a few times before making your opinion :)

I was disappointed, and I didn't have very high hopes to begin with, despite being an Opeth fanboy from way back. It is ridiculously overproduced and lacks the atmosphere that made their old albums so great. Roadrunner destroys another good band :(

To me Ghost Reveries is the best Opeth album, this one might be on fourth place..

it is fresh and so on, but it doesn't make it better than the older stuff

overproduced? That's like saying Demigod is overproduced??? never agreed on overproduction..

I was pretty disappointed the first time I heard it. I kept listening to it though and it really grew on me. Way better than GR. I don't think they'll ever top Blackwater Park or Still Life, but it's good enough.
