The thing I like the most about Mike's lyrics is the ballads (Windowpane, Benighted, To Rid the Disease, Isolation Years). The words help creating a mystical/emotive atmosphere that I really like, and it's not something so common in metal I think.

these kinds of depressive lyrics require a more sophisticated english with lots of imagery. duncan patterson from anathema has always pulled it off.
