OT: Mac Gaming.

I know the Mac can run games at full speed, if not faster. It's just that I wish there were more for the Mac. I meant add it as a major strenght, once the market-share is achieved, to their 'promotion' list.

Imagine this in their Mac Guy/Pc Guy advertising for example, or in their 'All the reasons you never bought a mac, now not true' section of their website, once a huge rise in Apple Gaming market share exists, eg 12. Lack Of Games - With 90% of the worlds Best developers and publishers creating games for Apple, you can be sure to get your gaming groove on. Etc etc.

So are you still pissed? :(

I was never pissed, just annoyed. Here's some more food for thought:

remember marathon ?

I was just thinking of that game and I almost killed myself for not remembering the name of it. I remember when I played Doom and Duke Nukem 3D for PC, one of my Mac-friends convinced me to come over and check out this awesome game for mac. To bad it sucked ASS!!!
After that I've always been bullying him for using macs and cause they never had any good games(unlike pc). Now I'm the one who's a Mac nerd, but I keep my gaming at my Xbox 360 or sometimes I crank up some emulators just to remind me how good games like Secret of Mana, Excite Bike, Super Mario were. So many memories...

hehe whadda mess...

ok duke smokes marathon by far but marathon was my very first game
which i played on my mothers mac (sic!). i got all three episodes and
even built my own maps whoho. good times.

plus at the time it came out it was a mac-only game.
think i remember quake also ran considerably faster on macs
back then cause it was coded on apple machines.
these memories will last forever i tell ya.
how romantic. i like being a kid of the computerage.

im sure this is not the guy you're talking about.
or maybe he is ?

Yeah, I loved that game. I never played single player but back in the day the computer lab at school stayed open for 2 hours after school was out and all the computer geeks would hang out in there. We'd have these huge Marathon battles over the network... Those were the days...

Any Mac guys want to point me to whatever a good, reasonably priced (read: FREE) CAD software suite for Mac is? UTSA's Mac lab is always vacant, so if the laptop goes down when I'm on campus I may wind up there just to avoid the mouth-breathing twits who go to the PC lab and don't know how to find the internet because the AOL icon isn't there - I know it's not much in the way of entertainment (unless vectorized boobs are your kind of thing) but someone here is bound to know.

In general, you can find just about any Mac app to suit your needs over at VersionTracker and/or MacUpdate.

Shane - the one thing though, the game Counter-Strike, which I actually use to be a "professional" of - please don't flame me :p, was never ported over to OSX. I am deeply saddened by this, and have e-mailed Valve several times, their only response is basically the same as others - they don't see the money in making a Mac version. Now I am looking at the new Intel Macs, probably a laptop, specifically for personal home use and so I can finally play CS again.

I like Day Of Defeat better, no stupid little 14 year olds dying twelve times before getting a head shot and screaming PPPPPwn3d J000 for half an hour.

Lol well...for CAL (the professional league for CS) none of that is allowed, in fact only team captain's are allowed to even speak "outloud" in a match or scrimmage. And even then, there's only serious text being put in. But I still agree for when I did play in public servers, it does get really dumb sometimes.
