overlooked essentials

Alright, one of the first in the second wave of black metal! :dopey:

Usually early bands in a genre which put out quality releases, even when they are similar to existing bands, are considered among the better bands in a genre. Hellig Usvart is a good album with genuinely good "ublack" metal. If it had been put out by a band whose ideology had lined up with the BM scene, it would have been hailed as an all time classic.
 
You're welcome. It's totally old-school, and I think the album gets much stronger as the second half approaches. There are some pretty subtle melodies that once you detect them are pretty infectious. The first song is almost worthless IMO.
