Threads like this make me feel like Opeth is a metal-symphony orchestra which Mike being the main composer and other guys are just playing what he says..cmon Opeth is not a band like that, Mike is a big part in Opeth's music ( he is main songwriter anyway ! ) but bashing other guys won't help.Peter maybe didn't contribute in composing as much as Mike but that doesn't make him a bad guitarist. And I don't remember people pointing out to this fact before he left so..........

Peter had kind of a cool, aloof presence about him. However I don't think much has changed as far as Opeth being a vehicle for Mike's musical genius, and I'd take the energy of the current lineup over aloofness any day.

I think that fredrik will fit in better for the next album. I wasn't sure about the keyboardists contributions until watershed where they just seemed to 'work' better.

peter wrote nothing since still life other than the solos. he was more or less a session player from '99 and on. he was an amazing guitar player, don't get me wrong. but this line-up is probably the tightest line-up that opeth has ever had.

Sorry Peter,
but ive delt with plug in players and its kind of annoying
thats why i have a new guitarist who can contribute and not watch and learn

I agree with HemeHaci %100. Peter, from MAYH and on didn't contribute to a single song (except the solos and some riff in Dirge for November). His solos were good, but we all know Fredrik is a much better player than both Mike and Peter.

I loved Peter because of his cool character but I don't care about that when I'm listening to Opeth. Martin Lopez contributed to Opeth much more than Lindgren did, and as a matter of fact Opeth is equal to Mikael Akerfeldt much the same way Annihilator is equal to Jeff Waters. Fredrik or Lindgren can't change anything about Opeth.

Disgraceful thread. The sooner people come to realize that Peter wanted and needed to leave for the bands better interests this will be a better forum. oh noz plz cum bak n0w!

As much as I agree with what's been said about Peter needing to leave, especially so long after 'losing' it, you can't discredit his contribution to everything up to MAYH if that;s when his creativity did indeed die. His influence on the music he helped put out was great stuff but it's time to move on. Have some faith and stop crying.
