i have found very similiar elements between PT and TON.... and theres a riff that is identical with the "arriving somewhere but not here" main riff... "tod´s ships" or sumtin 
...track 4 on life is killing me anyway... and the synth on deadwing is almost copied from another life is killing me song... track 7 chorus...check it out and see what i mean... btw life is killing me is definitely a PT class album... you shouldnt judge a band by their reputation... hating mainstream music for the sake of it is extremely mainstream...think about it.

some of you guys have already said that they dont like their last offering...well, you are among quite a few people who have voiced the same opinion in the last 3 years. and that has always shocked me, 'cause i find "life is killing me" to be fantastic. i mean at least -like two of you have mentioned- the song "anesthesia" should receive some appreciation. i think peter steele has done his best in that song's lyrics:

now, isnt that juct plain great?
T0N has a lot of humor, but some of their songs can really hit the listener, like this one...when they decide to be serious, they definitely manage to write a decent song in that vein.
and as for the original question, yeah those are two different bands blah blah blah
