I noticed several people on this board dig this band. I am just now getting into them and have some of their more recent releases (Deadwing and In Absentia). So, which PT albums would you recommend that I purchase next?

They have many many records, and every one is magnificent. If you are a fan of the newer records you may want to check out some of the albums somewhat closer to those (Lightbulb Sun, Stupid Dream). Lightbulb Sun is probably my favorite, along with In Absentia of course. Incredible band, on record and especially live. All hail Steven Wilson!! :)

to get into their older stuff, besides getting all the albums, I think it's a good idea to go for "Stars Die"

2 disc comp of the older material, and arranged fantastically well.

in my opinion, Lightbulb Sun is my favorite PT work followed closely by Stupid Dream. And, actually, my friend just got Stupid Dream from Amazon. You may also want to check The End Records mail order site if you want to buy their cds

I thought rereleases were all those albums that went out of print were supposed to have come out again by now?

no clue though, I have them so that's all that matters :p

You'll just end up getting them all anyway. Actually, the only PT release I dont absolutely love is Up the Downstair. It's good, but quite at the gold standard I usually expect from SW.

All I need is Stupid Dream and Metanoia, and my PT collection is complete! (and then time to start Bass Communion, IEM, and work on No-Man.... ugh! Stupid over-productive Steven Wilson!)

Where Would We Be is one of the only songs ever recorded that almost always hits me hard and chokes me up. Thats about as emo as I get  :Spin:
