Mob Rules - Savage Land
Mob Rules - Temple of Two Suns
Mob Rules - Hollowed Be Thy Name
Dream Evil - Evilized
Primal Fear - Jaws of Death
Lost Horizon - Awakening the World
Evergrey - Recreation Day

Assuming I don't have to mention Helloween, Strato, Iced Earth and friends.

Come on people, it wasn't ALL that bad. Sure, if you're trying to get into power metal it isnt a very good place to start as there are a lot better albums out there. However, its a good album in its own right with some pretty kicking Songs: Season of Faith's Perfection, I Walk to my own Song, Dreamweaver and Know the Difference to name a few. There are many good tracks and, apart from the opener, there are no real album fillers.

Get it anyway, its up to you whether you like it. Part 1's lots better though

I'm no power metal expert but I'll second the Lost Horizon recommendation. Also the album that the iced earth guitarist and blind guardian singer did together isn't bad. I just had to get over the cheesy name of the band (demons & wizards).

Star One - Space Metal (Arjen Lucassen of Ayreon sets great Sci Fi movies to music)
Deadly Sin - Sunborn (see sig)...sorry for this "commercial", but we have to promote an album.

it's almost blasphemous to refer to Jon Schaffer and Hansi Kursch as "The guitarist of iced earth and the singer from blind guardian". buuuuut demons and wizards kicked ass. About the cheesy name, that's something that proggies just don't get... power metal is cheesy and fun. Why the hell not?

mmm I think the first Blind Guardian albums are just good power metal, the fist Pantera albums too, then other like Gamma Ray, or Helloween are my favourites, but there are a lot of good power metal bands around.

I don't like much power metal....Kamelot have some cool albums....and the first 3 or 4 Helloween albums were great.....but overall it all sounds very samey. Bnads like Gamma Ray, Edguy, Rhapsody etc just don't tickle my cock.

I don't like power metal unless it offers something new and original. I guess some bands that do that are Blind Guardian and Nightwish. Meh, it's just not my thing. The music is cool and all, but the vocals are annoying, and it just tends to get repetitive after while.

DragonForce - Valley Of The Damned is a superb power metal album. Their new one, Sonic Firestorm is out in April. They've got a couple of mp3s you can grab off their website, but if you like melodic power speed metal, then DF are definitely worth a listen - http://www.dragonforce.com.
