Other Power and Progressive Metal bands

OK, so this is pretty decent, I think I know where some of it came from but still pretty decent. Then Im hearing stuff that has its own identity at least from music I know, not bad at all.............. what do ya know, an actual singer thats not a wank... you could also achieve friend status at this point.... if I was looking for a friend lol

shit, hes got a bit of Coverdale in the beginning of Perfect Dark, possibly better, yes more ass, even a bit of the blues, wow... I like that vocal passage.......
edit : hes even better then Dio when he heads in that direction Perfect Dark is a great song.

the singers
on the first 2 songs- bjorn jannson
Acstacy Arise- kelly "sundown" Carpenter
Perfect Dark- Jorn Lande

each album has a different singer

Well now I know who Jorn Lande is... but wasnt he the one we had the video up, doing some kind of 80's pop wank ? If so its even funnier now. Those songs are a bit sludgy, in fact I was thinking that song is a bit like Into the Black Hole. Perfect Dark is a great vocal performance regardless the bakers dozen, cliche, lyric phrases

jorn lande is one of the gretest things to happen to metal. perfect dark is mazing... and so is the rest of beyond twilights discography. they are all worth your money. all three of them should be ordered immediately. they are one of th bads that have never had a bad song. NEVER

I've been too lazy to check, but are the piano parts on Beyond Twilight's Section X done by a real pianist? There are some trills in the instrumental song, and elsewhere on the album that sound really fake/MIDI-like.

Brainstorm is alright except that they tend to fall into the type of power metal that begins to sound the same. I think if you listen to them the only album you need is "Soul Temptation". The album after it, "Liquid Monster", was merely not as good. The new album, "Downburst", is decent; however, I noticed that most of the tracks are nothing more than recycled, less enjoyable versions of the tracks off of "Soul Tempatation". I literally heard almost the exact same guitar licks used on ST in Downburst on several occasions. The coolest thing about Downburst is that the guy on the cover looks just like Altair from "Assasins Creed".

I also have a question, I thought I'd put it in here since it's not worth making a whole thread about it.

I'm just getting into Black Metal, and I'm beginning to enjoy Dimmu Borgir, which one of these discs should I get first/is the best of the two:

-Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia
-Death Cult Armageddon

I don't listen to very much black metal; however, every once in a while I get in the mood for it. A recommendation I would like to give is Dragonlord- Black Wings of Destiny, especially if you are more into the symphonic and melodic side of black metal. This band is a side project between some members of both Testament and Dimmu Borgir. I think they may have had one album before BWoD but I am not sure. I do know that they are supposed to finally release a new album sometime this year.

BTW- I haven't seen you around here in a while?

Yeah, tey are all done by the bandsmastermind, keyboardest Finn Zierler. he played all key parts on all the albums. wether or not they are done on real piano or not. what a great band!!!!!

also check out Blotted Science. all instrumental, VERY progressive. Ron Jarzombek!!!!

Hey people, I have only heard Bloodbound's Nosferatu album (godlike!) and I was wondering, are the newer albums just as good?

Thx for the suggestions :)

but can anyone answer my question? Youtube is kinda hard to reach with my crappy internet connection!

If you haven't checked out Angra's latest two albums (Aqua and Aurora Consurgens) you really should, and if that doesn't hit the spot Seventh Wonder WILL satiate your desires for amazing progressive metal!

fake edit: Its general consensus that Sonata Arctica was great until Unia where Jani Liimatainen left the band. If you are looking for bands like what Sonata Arctica used to be may I recommend Cain's Offering and Serenity.
