I think we're confusing style and formula a tad in this thread. And besides, Id call GR their least formulaic album yet.
k, well GR is the MOST formulaic. learn to lesson to opeth better.

and yes, style is NOT formula.

Please, calm down dudes!! :-)

Back on topic - can someone please comment my post below, constructively?

Opeth songs has almost always several instrumental parts built up by (i.e.) a riff that is repeated exactly 4 times.
(Then comes perhaps another riff, chord sequence or vocal part... again often repeated the same number of times.)

This is VERY typical of Opeth!

Later (newer) album songs has (partly) the same structure, but with the excellent difference that things are slightly changed, or parts are added, during the four repetitions.

The more varied these riffs/sequences are, the more you can appreciate that they are repeated four times.
But many early Opeth songs tend to become slightly booring when you sort of KNOW what'll come...

Not entirely true... They tend to use different beats (signatures) like 3/4, 7/8 or Lopez's
favourite 6/8... Which means they repeat stuff 3 or sometimes 6 times...
But I know... when it's 4/4 they repeat 4 times.

But I can't find any value in this info anyway? What about what they
play... Like the dynamics... heavy and soft parts - harsh growl and
melodic singing...

Nah, and you are just an angry teen faggot, and your overuse of the word ''retarded'' is just cretin...the songs off ghost reveries are nothing similar to each other, and they they have very different structures, it is not an opinion, it is a fact, please don't be ridiculous, you cocksucking kid...learn to make a fucking coherent argument...
