This is an old thread but there are some new additions since it started. It can be a fine line between Progressive and Technical Death Metal and definitely some over lap.

True - Still Life: the tamboura can be a bit gimicky but is well integrated here

Animals as Leaders - S/T: instrumental and not really Death Metal but very thick production and progressive ideas

Sickening Horror - The Dead End Experiment: shows a willingness to experiment and is interesting, if rather quirky
