In my book, IT'S OVER! I'm bummed but not surprised. The only thing that resembles Queensryche here is the sound (not melodies) of Geoff's voice. I tried to enjoy it and NOT compare it to any previous QR cd's but I just can't, they lost their edge and sound completely run of the mill. After "Promised Land" it has always been touch and go with them, I even enjoyed "Mindcrime II" thinking it might be a pivotal release for them to come back but this cd closes the QR chapter in MY music book. Oh well, I'll always enjoy the great work they have done, but I'm afraid it's time to put a fork in them!:puke:

After one listen I like it quite a bit. There's a lot of emotion here. Its no early-era QR. But so be it. I think that Tate sounds great. Again no early-era high pitched vocals. But he is now the rich low tenor. I'd take him over 98% of clean vocalists in metal and prog rock. I wish there was a bit more oomph! to some of the songs, just to hear them rock it out a tad, but I think that they have at least created a good atmosphere for the songs

Honestly, I agree the past is the past, people change, members change etc....BUT, I do not expect them to re-create "Rage For Order" or "Mindcrime", with that being said, they are no longer the Queensryche I was sold on many moons ago. With that being said, I DO listen to music with an open mind and with the "it is what it is" attitude and look for the good, but to me this is an entirely different band (song wise) and It just happens I don't care for it. I guess in my head I KNOW they can write better, and I use the term "better" loosely. I'm not knocking anyone who digs it by any means but for me personally ....."It's over Johnny"!

I agree with both AngraRules and Zod. The last QR disc I owned and heard was OMII. Needless to say, that was when I turned my back to this band. I got rid of every single CD and DVD I owned and haven't missed them a bit! :Smug:

They lost me when I saw them last time. Geoff faking playing the Sax and most of the higher vocals were recorded. Leave that stuff to Brittney Spears!!

LOL why are people always surprised that this band continues to release pure and utter shit?

I accepted the fact this band was over a decade plus ago!

I downloaded this one last night. I figured it would be a tough listen, and it was. There's no real redeeming qualities to this disc ... it doesn't rock, Geoff's singing is not good, the songs are not catchy, etc. Do yourselves a favor and don't waste a dime on this.

Oddly enough, this band still has a very loyal fanbase, but it isn't any of us! I think for the most part it consist of people that aren't aware that there's better music/metal out there. Fatesfan and I ran into this talking with fans at a Symphony X/Queensryche show back in 2003, I believe. The people that we talked with had no unearthly idea who Symphony X was, yet they were there to see QR spew out the junk from Tribe. :Smug: We both arrived at the conclusion that most of the loyal QR fans are simply clueless. I don't mean that to belittle them either, but simply stating our observation.

Exactly. I think 95% of the folks who show up to see any 80s act are completely unaware of the modern Metal scene.

So true. I heard at least half a dozen folks ask their friends, "Who are these guys?" during this tour.

Clueless, oblivious, unaware. Yep.

A couple decent songs so far, its not as crappy as most say, everyone just wants RFO and OM era Ryche and those days are long gone. Its not half as bad as Q2Krap.

This is pretty ridiculous. If you like an album you heard in 1986 or 1988, why would disliking that band's 2006 or 2009 release make you like the earlier album any less?
