I love this thread, had nearly forgotten about it. Good man Phyros.

Listening to Till Fjalls (the song, well and the cd) always takes me to a lush forest with a waterfall (for obvious reasons) specially at that break near the end where its just nature sounds, i love it.

I get the same feeling listening to Manskesman (?) i think.......where Vintersorg does that dialouge line. I think thats just great, i have no clue what hes saying but it fits the mood just great.

When I am listening to månskensmän I always picture myself hanging in outher space watching them ride with red eyes and stuff like that... Maybe I would have thought differently if I hadn´t understood the lyrics, it seems that can be a curse somethimes...:(

hmm, i didnt see it on that page? Which post is it, maybe im just a lazy reader

@phyros outerspace huh? If you say so.........

3rd from the bottom.

Anyway, I don't have much of an imagination, so when I listened to it, I saw something similar to the cover. A rocky cave opening in a dark, but not too thick forest. It is early winter, but there's no snow on the ground, and because this is in the northern reaches, there aren't many leaves on the ground.

And nearly all of that is taken from the drums that start when the vocals come in... the slow, deep drum.

I definitely didn't expect it to be about space.

On a related note, is the sun-wolf supposed to refer to something? I've only heard it in swedish songs.

Just a thought that popped up into my mind right now: In norse mythology you can hear about a wolf that run after the sun, trying to eat it, consume it. When Ragnarok comes, it will manage that, and the whole world will become dark, but before that happens, the sun will give birth to a daughter, and she will shine afterwards.... The sun-wolf might be this wolf, but I don't have the lyrics here at the moment, so I don't know if that would give any meaning, if it would make sense, but I'll look at it, and see if I can figure out anything..... But for now, don't assume this is what the sun-wolf is, because I'm not at all sure.

thats friggen awesome! Beautiful Beautiful lyrics, I never knew it was that long tho  maybe I just never noticed how long it was.......

I love Norse mythology, I know uh, not to much about it, but I feel its the most interesting mythology, I might take that in college, thatd be interesting.

you have that on college?! damn! i wish I could take that as a class!

I belive so, I know a few people who studied it in college, that must mean theres a class on it right? Hope so hehe, I love mythology.

if you are able to do it, i strongly advise you to do so! :)
I have read a lot of books about it, and I never get tired of the subject!
but it would have been really great to learn it from someone who really know what they are talking about, not just reading about it in books...

and well, here in norway we have allways learnd about norse myths at school(i did anyways:) )... but only that there is something called norse myth...

What you learn about norse mythology in school is just crap. They make it look like fairy-tales. As if ppl back in the days were ignorant fools. At the university in Oslo you can take a class about viking and medieval culture and customs; I guess you'd learn smth about norse mythology there to.:)

I'd really like to take that class, but I have no
idea what to use it for. Do you know if I need
examen facultatum to take the Norse
Mythology class? I think I'll have to go to
their site and check. Cause if I don't maybe
I'll just take it for fun. I'll probably never need
it while working..... But who knows?

i have some booklets from Finnish universities where they explain the classes.. i immediately wanted to take them but i'd have to move and i don't have money

it should be really interesting.

That bothers me too, i hate the fact that people is so intolerant that they label as rubbish everything they don't understand.

Personally i prefer the culture of the ancient civilizations. I don't like to understand how everything happens. I rather believe that a god with a hammer produces lightning than having it explained by physics

From my perspective, e.g. astronomy takes all the magic away from the sky, that's why i think there's some things humans shouldn't mess with.

I hope any of this makes sense :)

completely understandable astarte. I guess in a way science takes away from the ethereal and "dreamy" sense nature can give, but dreamy isnt really and ya gotta know whats real to keep your sanity :D

@fjell with all due respect, I think the mythologys are fairy-tales, unless you actually belive in all of it. What ive been tought of roman/greek mythology, its just taught as a story, theres no other real way to teach it.......

I will also have to move when I'm going to finnish university. But (thank god) not as far as astarte would have to :)
Only few hundred kilometers

I'm supposed to wake up after about 6 hours.. but first I have to fall asleep I think. And that's the hardest part :p

@blackspirit: can't you just go to the class you wan't??? just attend the lessons to get knowledge?? Here you can attend nearly all the lessons on our universities...the only thing is that if you're not in the uni they won't test you....but at least you could go and take all the notes you want!!

@astarte: I feel the same, but with some differences, some layers there.....
the low range are we....humans...above there's physics, astronomy and so.... I love to know the clockwork complexity and perfection of universe, I love to know that a rock falls due to the gravity forced done by the mass of the earth....and then I add another layer which explains the reason for that...a God there!
So everything can be so logic just because someone superior put it there :p

Student: Hey, how did the universe start...
Scientist: With the BIGBANG
Student: Oh yeah, the explosion, and what was before that?
Scientist: Well, nothing...
Student: whadda you mean???
Scientist: Nothing, plain void....
Student: Void?? but there must have been something...
Scientist: Look there was nothing...and universe started to expand...
Student: Expand towards where...
Scientist: Void...
Student: Oh! I see..."void" is something you can't explain huh?

there must be someone/thing who put all this tiny planets on the row....but of course I might be wrong....or not!!!!
but please, please don't start a flamewar about religions!!!!
