Reaper doesnt have mouse tools

haha yeah but that's really slow compared to my current method in nuendo
(hold alt indefinately, click to cut, drag to slip)

split, slip, split, slip, and so on

care to explain this? cos im pretty fucking quick when it comes to editing but there's always room to improve.

modify the select tool to slip when alt is held (tool modifiers in preferences)

default behavior is also to split audio at mouse pointer when alt is held

so when the two are used in combination, you can split and slip without hitting any buttons or doing anything

just click to cut, and drag to slip

hey joey, if really it is important to you, why not post this on the reaper forum. you explain well how well it works for you, and it could be easy for them to implement this solution in Reaper.

it works like that with reaper ! some proposed ideas that were added in a few days, sometimes !

If you can't do that mouse-splitting hooha in PT, then I don't care that Reaper doesn't have it - AFAIC PT is the editing standard by which I judge all others! And as I said in another thread, there are many quick and effective ways to get to the same result; I think you'll find that with practice and learning, you'll be able to do everything you were able to do in Cubendo as fast if not faster in Reaper, you just may need to force yourself to get used to doing it another way. Of course, the next question is, why bother when you're content with Cubendo, and the answer is, CUZ REAPER IS 50 FUCKING DOLLARS :D (but obviously this doesn't matter to someone in your position Joey, so if you're happy with Cubendo, then stick with it!)

you can edit with a mouse in protools...

Use your smart tool. The smart tool is activated by clicking the bar directly under the trimmer, selector and grabber tools. The smart tool combines these 3 tools and will let you trim, edit and grab without having to switch tools. When you move your cursor over an audio region, it will change into a bracket, which designates the trimmer tool, an I-beam cursor (like a selector in a text editor), which designates the selector tool, or a hand, which designates the grabber tool.

Step 4Place your selector tool on a region of audio where you want to make an edit and click. This will place your selector cursor. Press "Command E" on a Mac or "Control E" on a PC to make an edit point. This will split the region at the selected spot. This is the basic editing procedure that you will use quite often. Use the grabber tool and trimmer tool to move and trim the new region to fit where you want it

Oh I know, the smart tool rules, but ya can't split regions with it ;) (which is what I thought was your complaint)
