Reaper doesnt have mouse tools

Is that because it's the last 'free' one? What I love most about it is the sheer idiocy of the side-chaining work-around, and how I can't route my FX to other FX. It's so damn flexible it makes me wanna do my ass with a dildo as per a great tutorial I once read.

You can make a split in PT by just pressing 'B' if you have the 'a...z' option enabled in the edit window (I forget what they call it). 'A' will trim the front of the region to your cursor. 'S' will trim the rear to your cursor. 'G' will create a fade out from your cursor to the end of the region as per the default fade settings. I think 'D' does a fade in to the cursor from the start of the region. It's all there, mapped out of the box. Glorious for tom editing. You don't even need a fade-in because tab to transient will snap at a zero crossing. Thinking about editing in PT gets me hard.

Oh right, this was about Reaper... hah.

And totally unrelated to mouse tools, but one thing I've seen people who use Cubendo bitching about is that Reaper doesn't have the little mini-mixer track info on the left-hand side of the edit window, where you can manage inserts and stuff. Well, I say Reaper can do it one better with FX chains! Observe...

second time i watched this video (you posted it in another thread didnt ya?)

love the tangata tangata tangata tang bit

but yeh man, back when i had the pc and tried the warezed cubase (oh no i admitted it) i hated it, found reaper and fell in love.....now im on logic on the macbook but tinking of dabbling with reaper again...it is GREAT

been playing with reaper some more and i can definately see myself making the switch in the future
needs mouse editing and DOWNWARD SCROLLING rather than zoom changing when you scroll the mouse wheel (but if theres a way i can set that up without moving the mouse to the scroll bar then do tell :P)

finally getting used to the way reaper flows a bit more, and I dig it

Isn't that the same idea as Cubase's Channel Presets? I'm not sure how that gets around the drawbacks of not having the inspector window.

Move the mouse over the tracks on the left ;) (just make sure it's not over the pan slider/faders)

Well people complain about not being able to quickly add inserts, and I'm saying it's just as quick in Reaper with FX chains (or even just switching to the mix window a la PT), just a different means to an end!

Yeah but even in PT you can choose to have the inserts listed in the Edit Window. I'm sure they'll add the functionality down the track anyway... Reaper seems to be the one DAW where the devs actually listen to the user base.

Ah true, I just never do cuz I like as much space as possible in the edit window to be devoted to the edit window :D I mean, it's Ctrl-= to toggle to the mix window for all your insert functionality, not that hard!
