Recabinet

He was quoting me.....and yes I did make some mistakes myself, I was just in a bad mood earlier, ah well fuck it. Sorry to go off topic in your thread Shane.

Yeah, clip1 is preamp only, clip2 is the full amp module. But, I really wasn't trying to see which is "better", but rather the differences of using both ways. I have another thread in the Rate My Mix section asking which one people like more...so far the replies basically say that they can't tell a difference except that the full amp clip seems to have a little more gain on it, which I would assume comes from simulated power section saturation since the amp is turned up in ReValver. I may be full of shit but at least that makes the most sense as to why it would sound a little gainier, even if it is by such a minute amount.

I previously was saying that I have so far found the full amp modules to sound better with impulses than just the pre, but lately I've been experimenting a lot (instead of writing more music lol) and I think I actually like them both equally, the pre-only patch I think is a little cleaner, call me crazy. Anyway, thought I would post that up to clear p some people's assumptions on the matter.

thanks for that 006, I was wondering about that as well!

Do you think you would say the same when you are using a real amp + impulses?

e.g. pre-amp out + impulses is very equal to line out of for example a Hot Plate + impulses? as the hot plate captures the poweramp as well?
I'd love to see a comparison of that!

Yeah, I thought that turning off the built in poweramp on Revalver would make the Impulses sound more like they're supposed to, as the chain would be correct then, instead of having the signal in effect running through two poweramps. Obviously it doesn't seem to make much of a difference lol.

AxeFX users have similar results as well. I myself am very happy with my ENGL e530 tube preamp into Recabinet impulses, and that will be the rig for the next Backmask album.

This is why the official stance of Recabinet has been fairly neutral on this issue - because great results are possible either way for any style of music.

Well, with a real amp+impulses you are typically using just the preamp, so you could (theoretically) do the same process. Either the real amp's preamp straight into the impulse or the real amp's preamp straight into a power section in ReValver, and then into the impulse. Only one way to find out ;)

Using a HotPlate you are getting the pre+power from the real amp, so this way you could just use the impulses and somewhat achieve the same effect as the amp's pre into a power section in MKIII then into impulses, for the most part.

Again, all of this is theory and hasn't been tested so the only way to find out is to try it!
