Seriously, stop asking for objective reasons why something is bad! EVERYTHING is opinion! Give me some objective reasons why it's good. Anything that you respond with is going to be opinion. If you said the riffs are creative and the atmosphere is good (for example) then I could say the riffs are boring and the atmosphere sucks - it's all opinion. And this is why any arguing over this topic is stupid! If you need objective reasons to say anything then you can argue that anything is good. Give me a reason why shit tastes so bad? It has a bad flavor. But what about the flavor is bad? It's just bad. But give me a reason why it tastes bad? You don't need one it's just bad! Whoever said this was going to turn into an old vs new bodom thread on the first page was 100% right, and to be honest I don't even know why I'm posting this and adding to the shitstorm.

I am really sorry, Joonas, but as much as I love KTS, it's pure guitarwanking. 80% of the song are the solos and the couple of melodies and the fact that Alexi used to sing and play them live. SNBN, kind of the same thing. The hot spot are the double leads. Every Time I Die, great song, but tell me what makes it better than Angels Don't Kill or Banned From. Same goes on for the rest. And if you're going to answer, make it with valid arguments please. SouthernWarheart's post didn't include any.

Silent Night is the COB song, if you don't like it I'm not even gonna reply.

I didn't say Everytime is better than those two. I think each of the 3 have some of the best musical material written on this planet. Only essential difference is Everytime has louder synths. It doesn't bother me like the Banned From chorus does.

The more depth the music has the better. It can be in the soundscape, the melody, the awesome solos, the feeling. If I was a pessimist which I'm not, I'd say COB is heading more and more to a direction where it's all about technical drop-C guitar riffs. Alexi said his favourite song from Blooddrunk is RKM, I think that's frightening.

But before I say anything I want to see the next album, who knows how it's gonna turn out.

Well, you can extend this to every artistic creation on Earth. But arguing with people is harder than you think.

Yeah, well. There can be an opinion to everything. Same goes for music and the looks of women. There are always personal preferences and opinions. But I think there are also undeniable unwritten aspects to what is enjoyable and what is not, that goes to majority of people. Every COB track is different however and has so many different parts, so this kind of arguing forces you to analyze every second of every song if you want it to lead anywhere. Plus you have 20 other things to look at in the entirity. There is no answer to whether COB did better music before or after 2002. Define better?

Who started this arguing anyway? We were supposed to share everyone's personal fruity ideas, but I guess people forget this just about music/art/entertainment, not about anything serious like ethics or science or economy or politics or even religion, and interrupt on others' opinions. But I guess I'm the last person to say don't take this too serious.

If new stuff had been released as first albums i think people would have loved them even if they were heavy album.

Maybe if they did 4 songs pre-2003 style and 4 songs post-2003 style, everyone would be happy? No compromises in the music.

On a serious note, why not try different things. Make many totally different songs. Like:

Slow heavy track
Fast heavy track
Slow lighter track
Fast lighter track
Medium heavy track
Medium light track

Etc. Then again there are many other criterias in which the songs can be different than just the rate of speed and heaviness.

Fast heavy track: Hellhounds On My Trail
Slow lighter track: Banned From Heaven
Fast lighter track: Smile Pretty For The Devil
Medium heavy track: One Day You Will Cry
Medium light track: Done With Everything, Die For Nothing

Ok a couple of them wouldn't fit EXACTLY, but then again how do we define them? That said, I agree with you that variety would be cool.

I do like SNBN, I never said otherwise, but I don't think it's THE Children Of Bodom song at all. Children Of Bodom itself or Follow The Reaper or Hate Crew Deathroll are much more what Children Of Bodom is about than SNBN imho. About depth, if you focus too much on that you end up with too much layers to play live, and imho playing live with a backing track of recorded stuff is fucking gay when it goes further than an intro (e.g. like COB did on the last European tour putting the ADK intro live too) or outro or so. It's good to have depth in a song (and all Bodom songs do have it), but I think it's not good at all to overdo it and stuff an album with things you'll not hear live and give those a significant weigth.

Who started it? Go a couple pages back and search for the "I wish they got back to the old style, not the bad stuff they do nowadays" kind of posts, you'll find quite some of those.
