Horrible production, good to great songs except for System, Transparent and Dark Signs that I never listen to ... too much effects on the vocals although I didn't mind the clean vocals

It's the newest release of the Great band we gather here to discuss. What do you think of Reroute to Remain?

A so-so record by In Flames was still better than the average band's best. It was a mixed bag, but there was some killer riffage goin' on there too. Can't wait to hear their new material.

I have mixed feelings about this album. Sure, it isn't my favourite, but it isn't as horrible and irritating as some people make it seem. My favourite song on there is Metaphor, it just sounds so different. The rest leans on a more mainstream/nu-metal atmosphere compared to their earlier albums, but whatever. It's tolerable.

2.anders your clean vocals on all the other albums were good what went wrong on R2R dont use that many clean vocals until your as good as micheal stanne.

Mikeal Stanne isn't very good with clean vocals. I would rather listen to RTR than Projector.

this is pure blasphemy...to even put Anders in the same league as Stanne period is just rediculous! Stanne blows Anders away on ever level, from his emotive growl to his melancholy singing...Anders growl is diminishing to a scream and his cleans are whiney.

Anders Friden is an out-of-tune live singer with a horrifyingly bad clean voice and a growl that has turned into singing like Korn.
Mikael Stanne has brilliant emotional clean vocs and one of the best growls in the genre.

anders was a great vocalist i loved him on all albums up to R2R which i feel he was pretty bad but his growls do not sound a thing like korn. stanne does however wipe the floor with anders.

I just want to say about Friden's vocals on R2R, I still like them as much as, if not more than the vocals on Cayman, and I like both Friden's and Stanne's vocals equally even though they are very different....but who am I to say, I'm not a 'true' death metal listener, I only like In Flames from Colony to R2R, and I only like DT from The Mind's I to Damage Done....well that's only partly because I have listened any earlier stuff from either band, but anyway.....
If I had to choose though, Stanne is obviously the more talented vocalist.

I'd like to ask a 'sub topic'.....is there a bonus track on R2R? Because I can't find it on Kazaa, but I can find, like, the bonus tracks from Colony and Clayman on there.........just wondered?

Compare two vocal dominated songs, "Day to ENd" and "Metaphor". Day to End is horrible. Metaphor is excellent.

I don't think there is a bonus track on RTR. It did have more tracks than any other IF CD.

the songs i heard were terrible. Cloud Connected is a bad song, bad video. IF have turned to crap.

What i dont see people discussing though... I dont think Anders has the capability to sing like he did on TJR anymore. you could hear that on Colony, and if you saw them live around that era (i saw them in 99). His growl is GONE, and even if he wanted to bring it back, im almost possitive he couldnt. And he sounds like an assraped clown trying to clean vocal like on Cloud Connected. his clean vocals worked for Ordinary Story and Juton, not for shit like Cloud Connected.

And where are people coming up with this crap that the lyrics are meaningful? what type of shit do you listen to to make these words mean anything? Worlds Within The Margin, those were good lyrics. They actualy MEANT something. Cloud Connected? "people like you, you live in a dream world"?? what the holy fuck? "you said somebody stole the eye"? NOT THE EYE!!! good god man, sing something with meaning again!!

Total garbage. I'll still listen to whatever new stuff they release, but I dont have any hopes it'll even reach the status of Clayman, and i though Clayman was also garbage. Colony was fucking brilliant, and TJR / Whoracle cant even be touched. everything after = shit.

Yes, I think Metaphor is a better SONG than Day to End...but as for vocal talent, its almost undeniable Stanne mops the floor with Anders.

I'm not a Day to End fan either.. but what about Auctioned? Thats a vocal dominated song, and it smokes Metaphor. Final_Vision is right, its the song that is better, not the singing.
