I don't like Auctioned either. Stanne is much bettter recently, but bac karound LS/Skydancer and TJR/The Gallery, Both were excellent above al others. I think Anders started going down on Colony, did well on Clayman, but didn't do as good as he could on RTR and also had poor production. Stanne still ins't that good with clean voclas, but he can do others much better than anders now.

I noticed that a lot of people dislike the production on R2R, but for some reason, to me it's one of the best productions I've ever heard. The drums and guitars sound very crisp. Someone I know here that went to school for production said it's very good as well. What is it that people don't like about it?

It's like the production of Machine Heads Burning Red and Metallicas Black Album, they kicked out the producer who made it sound hard and brought in someone who made it sound slick and comercial.

i think R2R is poor, its a poor attempt, from a band that can do so much better, why cant it be more like their older stuff, like The Jester Race etc.

it's because they are trying to suit all the 'new age metal heads' who like linkin park and slipknot,

Because the guitars sound like shit to me, whats the point of having amazing harmonies (like in flames usually does) if they're just going to bury it in muddy guitar riffing. Anders vocals were brought to the front above everything else and IMO his clean vocals shouldnt take the bigger percent of melody in the music.

I see what you mean about hiding the guitar harmonies. It's isn't as easy to hear. I guess it's just a matter of preference though.

I noticed that for some reason they drown out Anders when he screams, but then they make him louder for the clean vocals. I'm not really a huge fan of his clean voice either, but it's ok.

It isn't that it was botched production, it just didn't fit the music. I think if it was done carefully to fit the In Flames style it would be a lot better.

In Flames sound absolutely nothing like Linkin Park. Transparenthad similar distortion to some Slipknot, but Anders can still sing, and he doesn't do idiot screaming like slipknot. They are also not catering to the little ten year olds who think they are rebellious by throwing tantrums until their parents buy them a shit that says " you laugh at me because i'm different but i laugh at you because you're all the same" so they can look like the other 100000 kids who own a shirt that says that. In Flames are changing, and they aren't going to sell out. THey won't make The Jester Race again. THey will do whatever they want even if a thousands of whiny fans tell them to make another Jester Race. Also consider this wasn't recorded at Studio Fredman and it had production that didn't fit the music. If the raw material was reproduced and tweaked finely, it would be a lot better.

Decent album, I like the first 5 songs and Minus but the rest is just.....blah. The lack of solos is really disheartening and Anders's clean vocals sound pretty bad.
