well Ghost Reveries is a good album, but I think it's still my least fav. opeth album and without lopez the next album won't be near as good

Lateralus wasn't all that good to me the first listen through but I think it's phenomenal now, but as far as 10,000 days goes, half of it is crap in my opnion and i'm a big tool head

with teeth? where has trent gone wrong, only 3-4 good songs on it

eh' it just seems like with the absence of Lopez and TOOL's latest attempt kinda of being, well not that great it just seems like rock is dying, :Smug:

your thoughts?

i'm looking forward the the mIke A. and Wilson side project, but other than that what else is actually good out there? and speaking of another decadent decline in rock. . . Deadwing? come on, it's Porcupine Tree's worst album! :zombie:

...because tool, porcupine tree, and opeth are the only three rock bands in the world?
yes, thanks for clearing that up, cause that's what I meant, they are the only three rock bands around right now. . . . shrugs. . . . . fucking tired of smart asses on here, I just didn't feel like spouting out all the rock bands that are around, and you forgot that I said something about NIN , asshole

yeah well... as long as there is good music to listen to around, i couldn't care less if rock is dead. useless topic.

np: godspeed you black emperor - a silver mount zion

I don't think it's safe to say anything about the next Opeth album yet. Sure, GR wasn't their best (not by a long shot!), and yes, Lopez has left. But who knows, maybe Axe will bring a new dimension to the Opeth sound in studio. Anything's possible.

Apart from Dead Souls from the Crow soundtrack, Pretty Hate Machine and a (very) few moments on the Downward Spiral and Broken I can't stand his stuff. Apart from a period when I was about 14, I've always thought NIN were/are seriously overrated.

Anyway, I don't think rock is dying. I think it may have already been dead for the last couple of decades.

well i haven't heard the NIN record, but everybody else seems to be raving about ghost reveries/deadwing/10,000 days, so to me it seems that YOUR tastes are changing. maybe rock is dead for you, but for everybody else, there are still loads of great bands out there.
