One of the best Opeth Shows Ive been too...

Set list was great, "the moor" was a great substitution for "drapery falls"....... ..... The drummer from bloodbath was alright,, I guess he did a good enough job but he doesn`t own the tracks the way lopez does...

anyway, comments.........

I was at the show too. Definitely a lot of energy tonight, though Mikael talked about being tired after all the flying. The Moor was great, as was When and the Grand Conjuration. I enjoyed GC much more live than on record, though it's not bad on the album. Opeth played longer this time out too, which is always cool. Perhaps this was because Fireball Ministry didn't play tonight. Pelican was interesting, as this was my first exposure to them.

I think the drummer did a fine job. He obviously doesn't know the songs like Lopez does, but he's got some skills! Given time it would be interesting to see how he develops with the band. Mikael did mention that Lopez was home sick in Sweden, but nothing beyond that. Sure hope he is able to return. I love his drumming live.

I thought it was funny when Akerfeldt was introducing the band that he joked about Per aspiring to be Rick Wakeman, only without the robe!

i cant beleive they play 'the moor' it must have been awsome, so they they DIDNT play 'the drapery falls'. one of it not my favourites, they seem to be changing they setlist alot these days whaddayathink?

Mike also introduced himself as Bubba Smith :-).

It was an AWESOME show. One of the best concerts I've seen in a long time.

Here's the setlist. I took notes on my Treo 650 during each song. Squeek seems to think I might have missed a song, however, so corrections are welcome:

Baying of the hounds
When
Bleak
In My Time of Need
The Grand Conjuration
The Moor
Deliverance
Blackwater Park

Demon of the Fall

It was good to meet Squeek (Photomistress) and her friends after the show. They were all very cool people in person. During the show she was taking pictures very close. Can't wait to see them.

I took shots and a bit of video with my Treo. Since it's a camphone, the quality sucks, but worth uploading. I need to convert the video from .3g2 to .avi first thought. Working on that.

I'll post a URL when I get that done.

NOTE: Mike A said they would likely be coming back to the USA in February for another tour! W00t!

Yeah great show! I really had a good time. Pelican was ok, they did sound interesting but I could not really distinguish there sound to well due to the high amplification. All I know is that they need a vocalist in order to add that extra demension to there music but despite that it was still ok.

As far as Opeth? what do you think? they were awsome. I had a really great time during the set! Michael has really lost weight since the last time I saw them. I also thought Mike's humor/bantor was pretty cool in-between songs; it really adds to the experience. There replacment drummer did an excellent job, he was really good about following Lopez's technique with the songs(considering he's just a substitute drummer that has never really played Opeth songs before).

I also thought Mike's member introduction when they returned to perform the encore(Demon Of The Fall) was kind of funny. He was saying that Peter was tall and handsome but that it was too bad that he was a gay man that liked little kids(he was kidding of course) and that Martin Mendez from Uraguay just had to say"Gracias" to everyone and so forth...

Anyway great show guys. Wish I could repeat that again.

I was at the show too =)
I was up near the front and I saw Squeek taking pics 8) pretty hair =P
It was definately a great show. Aside from Mike's witty remarks (*girly voice*"We come from Sweden") I'd say the "highlight"(for lack of a better word) was Martin Mendez. Despite his height he still managed to be the most powerful person up there, definately a great stage presence.
I'm skipping my classes today because I'm just too sore (feet, back, and especially my neck.) Standing in knee-high boots for 3 hours is just not comfortable ;)
Most of the people around me didn't seem to enjoy Pelican. I thought they were alright, nothing special.
Mike was great though. "I want you to do us two favors..." "NO!" "No? Fuck off! I want you to do us two favors. One: I want you each to give us a hundred dollar bill. Two: Naked."

Aahh, good times =)

And Zortz, your set-list looks right, I have the same thing. I wrote it down on one of the menus.

I touched Peter's hand =P

Hahaha. I remember that guy that shouted "NO". He was bellowing stuff all night. A few times it was annoying because he drowned out what Mike A was saying.

I was standing right at the front of the stage basically right in front of Martin. I was the guy in the orange Laguna Seca shirt. I was taking pics with my cam phone all night.

I called out "Bass Player" a few times, but not sure if anyone got it. I'm starting to think that MM doesn't really appreciate that litte joke. :p Hopefully he realizes it's just a little forum in-joke with no disrespect meant. Then, he may not even be aware of it. I know Mike A is, since he mentioned it at another show.

Anyways, it was an amazing show! I'm definitely going again if, as Mike A said, they come back in February!

lol

The two black security dudes in front of the stage didn't seam to be enjoying themselves at all :D

Holy shit. I would be in heaven if they played The Moor at the Worcester MA show. That is probably my favorite Opeth song. Fucking awesome!

That rocks...I'm glad you guys had fun ...I seriously can't wait for my show on Sunday at the house of blues in LA. hopefully there isn't a show Saturday so the guys can get some rest.

I saw 'em bob their heads a few times actually, but mostly just stood there. In general though, I'd think guys that work concert security all the time probably get sick of concerts, regardless of who's playing. The guy nearest me didn't seem to like Mike A's little joke (?) about Satan being his lord very much. :Saint:

I was a little worried they might take offense when Mike A announced "The Moor" (since a Moor is a black African) as their next song, but neither dude showed any reaction.

I'm almost positive I was right behind you at the concert. If you were up at the very front, then I was either rigth behind you or right behind your friend to the left of you with the long blonde hair (a guy). If so, I was pushed up against him the whole night cuz of the crowd and got so much hair on me it's not even funny hahaha.

Edit: I've seen Opeth 3 times at the fillmore now, and this was by far the best one yet. The setlist was perfect in every way possible and The Moor just completed it. I am very glad they decided to play The Moor instead of Drapery Falls to complete the awesomeness of the setlist. WOOO!!!!

Yeah I second that about Opeth not playing Drapery too. No offence to the band or anything but I'm sick of hearing that song live. Playing The Moor was a great decision!

Oh and ladyvalerie if that really is you on that pic. you look awesome, I figure it is because you look like somebody I saw @ the concert.
