They are like Blood Tsunami etc...basically bands pretending to be old-school thrash who introduce lots of lame influences to dilute the sound. Melo-deathrashy-core (sometimes) is basically what's on call.

I don't think they are like the trendwhores you are trying to potray them as...

I didn't call them trendwhores. I think they are guys with pretty good intentions who have their hearts in a weird place and have too many disparate influences to really be "thrash metal" in the original style. That doesn't mean they can't be good; I don't like them but they are pretty good at what they do.
