Opeth 17: I'd get Peace Sells first, then the other two pre-RIP albums in either order. Killing has never been my favorite, but it still crushes and is lots of fun to listen to after all this time...rattle your goddamn head! As for the Slayer debut, all I can say is fuck the pen because you can die by the sword!

I think the only band in history that TRULY progressed, and yet kept all their initial fans were The Beatles.

Yeah because Ulver still kicks ass, and In Flames never really did.

I would never think to compare Lars to Lombardo, because Lombardo is just insane (his work with Fantomas is becoming my favorite) and Lars used to be adequate but now he just blows and somehow has a WORSE sounding snare than he used to.

well they had the transitory millions of fans who are only loyal as long as the hit single is in heavy rotation. They were completely unprepared for challenging music.
