So I can play Deliverance on my guitar.

The ones I've learned all the way through are Deliverance, To Bid You Farewell, Requiem, and Patterns in the Ivy.
Oh you know TBYF? Thats awesome. Fun to play?

BTW, the funnest thing about Deliverance - fuck up with Winamp to strengthen the vocal volume and weaken all the other instruments, and play along on the guitar! Bam! It's just me and Akerfeldt!

Nice man. I've been meaning to learn the rest of that one. I know the intro and what not, but I've been procrastinating.

I know most of a Fair Judgement and I know Closure in it's entirety. Other then that, I've kinda just picked up a bunch of random riffs. The Amen Corner, pretty much everything off Damnation, the Moor, Dirge for November, The Funeral Portrait, about half of Masters Apprentices etc. Theres probably dozens more.

lol, I know what you mean, I tried learning all of Forest of October but eventually I forget what comes next, it's hard to memorize EVERY part in a song like that. Songs like Credence, and stuff off of Damnation and what not aren't so difficult because their generally pretty short and repetetive.

well i guess once you listened to the songs enough times they kind of get stuck in your head. i've never had that problem of forgetting what part comes next.

It's not so much that I dont know the song, it's a matter of knowing what notes to play next and what not, do you know what I mean?

Edit

Exactly!

I think that the hardest part about singing Deliverance and playing at the same time is remembering when to start singing, heh. If I'm singing and playing the bassline, I have to make a mental note "the intro riff goes around two complete times before the vocals come in", and then for the clean part afterwards something like "the lead goes twice and then vocals" etc

i cannot play any opeth song, i suck, unless im playing my *air* guitar, then i know all of them.

Let's make a band.

I can play the outro and intro.

But only because I'm too lazy for the rest.

Which Opeth songdo you guys reckon is the hardest to play on geetar? I can play all of Benighted, which took me ages to learn considering all the tabs aren't 100% correct.

You know, the only part that I have trouble with on Deliverance is Peter's clean playing before the song goes into that badass last riff that lasts an hour. It starts at 8:39 and it is way too fast for me! I am playing it all downstrokes when going up and upstrokes when going down, if that makes any sense. It looked like that was what Peter was doing on the Lamentations DVD, but I can't tell for sure because it's too fast and they only show his picking hand during that part for a little bit. I suppose it could also be alternate picked though. I don't know which would be easier. How do you guys play that part?
