Not aimed at the band from this board- just insert name of band I listened to in for "your band" and that sums it up nicely.

see, i knew i shouldn't pick specific stuff.

the alas is ok- i actually like some of erik's writing on it, but the vocalist has no soul/inflection whatsoever, and it drives me up the wall. can't listen to it aside from a track or two.

i'm currently listening to a madonna cd, if that tells you what i thought of the metal stuff i had to pick from. tonight is 'going through boxes of old cds while unpacking' night.

aysha made me listen to their single, and it wasn't terrible until suddenly some guy broke in and started repeating or heralding every line, in this nu-metal/rappy/"attitude" voice.

WAKE ME UP!

CAN'T WAKE UP!

all modern metal sucks. '96 was the quality cut off point, any band after that are billix . I thought everyone got a memo on this.

yeah xfer that song is by far the worst one on the CD.

Making it destined to be a smash radio hit.

the dude keeps his mouth shut for the rest of the album.

well I, unlike some here, can find enjoyment in CDs that aren't earth-shattering and off-the-wall amazing and thought-provoking.

It's an OK electro/pop/chick metal CD.

nothing more, nothing less....I'll play it in my car every now and then.

It's kinda sad thought that mainstream radio dudes consider this like groundbreaking rock and bands like Tapping the Vein, The Gathering, and Lacuna Coil are left to grumble obscenities to themselves in the shallow basements of undergroundia.

i'm glad i don't know that song. sounds like i might have seisures if i heard it.

and yeah, azal- those bands are doing some cool things that get under the collective radar of the masses. but a part of me is glad, because the corporatization of music is one of the worst things in my opinion. i'm proud of the gathering (without sounding condescending- wish i had the power to do it myself) of nixing century media and releasing the new album on their own. the end was quick to pick that shit up, and while they may not be as BIG as CM, i think it's a great match.
btw- indieworkshop plug for The Gathering review i did:

and my current guilty pleasure, due to my new public library card:
