Soft Machine

i checked out some samples on amazon. sounds really awesome. odd thing is, im not into prog rock. its not that i dont like it but ive just never really got into it. but these guys sound like they have 'something', i dont know. but im buying vol 1 and 2 on CD very soon. thanks for the link!

the only album ive ever heard of the soft machine was some live disc that came into the used cd store I once worked at. It was god-awful psychedlic noodling... dont get me wrong... I like that stuff, old floyd or the mars volta are great... however, it was literally a FULL album of incoherent psychedlic ramblings...

Is this not what they really sound like? what other albums should I check out?

Was it Soft Machine - Six? That's one of my favorites... half of it is live, the other half is studio tracks.

You should check out Soft Machine - Third.... it's widely consider their masterpiece.

Soft Machine is incoherent, chaotic and pointless. You want jazz-fusion go with Mahavishnu Orchestra, Romantic Warrior or Tribal Tech.

Mahavishnu Orchestra is fucking gay... I can't stand John McLaughlin.

On the other hand, you must not have listened to any of Soft Machine's better albums.... like "Third". By no means is it "incoherent".

And if it was "incoherent", would that really be a bad thing? Does everything always need to fit together perfectly? Loosen up, man...

everything doesnt always need to fit together, its great to come out of left field... but you cant start with incoherent jibberish, continue with incoherent jobbierish and end with incoherrent jibberish... now thats "gay"...

I will defenitly check out this "Third" disc however...

however Mahavishnu owns 90% of other fusion music in my opinion...

I would also just like to point out that the referance to "Romantic Warrior" is actually

Return to Forever's album "Romantic Warrior"... possibly my favourite fusion music I have had the pleasure of hearing. go Chick Corea :notworthy
