St Anger - how much did you guys pay for it?

After just listening to the album again..

Best album of the year? Not even close - but still pretty good.

It's about a million times better than Re-'so you didn't like Load, well here's a good opening song followed by a heap shit that wasn't even good enough for that shitty album but you won't care 'cos you'll buy farts if we could put them to vinyl'-Load.

Definitely contains bits of their best metal in at least 10years. It's just a bummer it's so often hard to hear in the shitty mix. Which reminds me.. if the band was so intent on making it sound 'live and raw', why not record it live? Like simply release and audio version of the DVD? It would have saved a shit load of studio time - and we would have had Rob on Bass.

I think its easily the best they have done in years, and is currently my fav album of theirs...whats the problem with the drum sound...its part of the album to me, quit ya fucking whining and listen to it again, ya bloody moaners

I got it on tape for $4. No DVD, but it's still about what I'd wanna pay. :)

I listened to it again tonight. It's not bad, but really doesn't excite me very much. It's the best work they've done in over ten years, but that's reaaaalllly not saying much at all!

Well I expect partly the low price on the Metallica disc is partly due to the fact that the record company is able to shift units in such copious amounts that they can sell it at a reduced price, but due to the massive sales it will yield they'll still make their dough.

I must come clean though. Initially after having heard only St. Anger and Frantic I gave the album a verbal pasting. I then saw it for that low, low price and thought what-the-hey, i'll give it a go.

Now I must say, I've listened to the album twice in the last 3 days and it's got some good stuff on it, and i'm still not that keen on the two previously mentioned tracks. Not willing to make any more comments than that at this stage.

I've heard "Purify" and liked it more than I expected to. Not enough to buy the album though, or indeed to listen to any more of it unless by chance.

Put AJFA on for about the 264th time this morning. Like Jethro Tull I'm living in the past, but that's Metallica as I'd prefer to remember them.

most people seem to think that "Purify" is the worst song on the album. I disagree (I think its Shoot Me Again) but hey... it seems to be an album that at least has something for everyone ;)
