Definitely. Every once in a while I would play UMS for a change and I had a great time playing turret-defense maps, RPG ripoffs and all kinds of other weird UMS scenarios.
Yeah I suspect I'm going to spend way too much time playing Starcraft 2 but at least I managed to quit playing Brood War 2 years ago.
My friend who was visiting from LA last week is in the beta and downloaded it on my comp and I tried it out. I got surprisingly good in just two days :Smokedev:
The game is hella fun and it's going to be available for the Mac as well, so I have a feeling it's going to be HUGE when it comes out.

I used to make tons of them. I used to get pretty creative with them. My fav was the Magic maps. I made own version and it got pretty popular way back when. Can't F'n remember the name though. Sometimes I would make hidden spots where each one in sequence would give me an unfair advantage.
I liked the Map settings games more than the real game. Those days are gone now. I'm waiting on D3, it's taking forever!

Actually monkey island is released with fresh episodes (shorter than a full game, but still long enough) regularly.
Don't know if they will ever release chapter V

Bunker Command, Tank Defence, DoTa, Nazi Defence, Stronghold were awesome maps, too (some of the versions were, anyway)

Really looking forward to this too, I was actually wondering what's taking it so long with the release and had to check it up last week. I spent countless hours with the first Starcraft and I've replayed the single player mode quite a few times, the last time was last summer IIRC. Still such a good game even though it's old.
Have to +1 that I'm pretty sure there's going to be a break with the music stuff when it comes out...

It's actually not that effective to run mass of anything anymore. At least not in my experiences thus far. Especially with things like the Protoss Vortex ability.
Seems to me that this new installments encourages variety as well as harassing tactics the most.

^ Correct, you generally have to know what the enemy has and make hard counters (for example immortals vs. roaches)

I'm nowhere near that level... silver in 1v1 and gold in 2v2 (I enjoy it a lot more than 1v1, can't wait for some 3v3 and 4v4)
