Starcraft 2 thread

+a million

I also liked the hero maps and some of the mass maps. Though, a lot of them were unbalanced. Or rigged

Starcraft:Ghost? :p

There are some cool custom maps already, but getting them in battlenet requires a small third-party program.
Check www.sc2mapster.com

As for Starcraft:Ghost, I blame it on the other developers :P
Developers:
Blizzard Entertainment
Nihilistic Software
Swingin' Ape Studios

bump
Blizzard introduces this Real-ID shit but I still want this game so badly
Anyone else preordered? Gonna do it next week, one copy for my oldest brother and one for me, can't wait.

Fuck normal SC multiplayer.. what is the status on custom games and maps ? :D
Gonna buy SC2 when i can play some good old tower defense and hero maps (and all the other good custom stuff hehe)

(reading on the SC2 maps website now :).)

Yeah Custom maps are a lot of fun and a great way to relax, but normal SC2 Multiplayer is the most challenging and competitive experience ever. It's a game, a sport, and a bunch of other things at the same time.

Beta is currently online and will continue until July 19th.

There were a lot of beta keys sent out as well as friend invites so it shouldn't be that hard to find one. Also, if you pre-order you get a beta key.

Yeah no doubt.. but the fact is I get steamrolled on battlenet and just plain suck at RTS games :D. Don't have time to get good so a few custom maps once in a while is more appealing to me :).

Definitely. You need a lot of practice and you have to watch and analyse many replays if you are to stand a chance. Still, Starcraft 2 presents an opportunity for people with less training to win as long as they have skills and are able to think of the right strategy in the right time, whereas in SC: BW you need to practice all the time to stand a chance.

Starcraft will forever (in my mind) be a game for fun.

I started playing in 4th grade (7 or 8 years ago) with a couple friends from school and it was the most amazing and sick game. Wed play against eachother online and we werent very good but it was fun seeing who could win.

Then as I got older (and friends quit playing it), I found out about the UMS maps, and never really wanted to play regular 2v2 or 4v4 anymore haha. The Custom maps are so unique and interesting.

Every now and then when nobody was hosting a good UMS map, Id go try and find a 4v4 or something, and occasionally Id get into a fun map with people my skill level, but 80% of the time I would just get anihilated and would have 0 fun. lol.

13 days. Less than 2 weeks. :loco:

I cannot wait for this game. It seems like we've been waiting forever for this game. Back in the day, I used to alternate between Starcraft, Warcraft II, and then finally Warcraft III.

What were you guys' favorite UMS maps?
I was a Sniper addict. :)

I get what you're saying. Brood War brings awesome memories of me and my friends playing lan and I still enjoy it most when I'm playing with and against friends. Trouble is some of them no longer play games and others just don't have time :(

WoW brought them tons of money, though. Hopefully all that money will help them come up with an epic Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2. For the latter I can already guarantee it's a success.

I hope starcraft II will kill all the support for WOW (you know managing all those servers make Blizzard so busy)
That goddamn thing is delaying and has delayed all other stuff like starcraft II and the mighty Diablo III

Dude .. I have been in the Data Center as Blizzard in Cali and i will tell you this its like fucking NASA! Every instance has its own server!

WoW will never die. Its Blizzards cash cow. They could never release another game and pay for everyone's salaries just off what they make on WoW. I will admit Blizzard support does suck in a huge way. But when you have 11miliion people on ONE FUCKING GAME you are bound to have issues.

I am really really hping they get DIII out this year. its my most anticipated game at the moment.

+1 man. I've scheduled to take a month off whenever Diablo 3 is released... WHENEVER. I mean, I will fucking drop an album mid-stream to grind that shit to death.

Starcraft holds some fond memories too... I used to wake up at 5am every morning before school in 8th grade to log onto b.net and play Big Game Hunters with guys from all over the world. The experience was so novel back then because the internet hadn't really fully taken off, and multiplayer gaming was still somewhat of a shiny jewel. Most of the guys were older than me, and there were no 14 year olds to annoy me to shit because.... well, I was the 14 year old.

Ermz, if you decide to check out SC2, post your nick here so we can play some 2v2 or 3v3/4v4 even. If there are enough people we can even make our own UM forum melee.

I wonder where Limak went, he was very good at it.
