i don't know what exactly you "experimented" with but this, to me, sounds like... well... here's a scenario...

so a black guy is standing on an elevator, and then a white guy gets on and says "hah look at this my pals isn't he lolz x50?" and then the other people on the elevator say "hey my pals are good and stuff" and so the guy says "oh yeah, lol yous guys, i was j/k". and then the guy says "ya know, i'm actually very hip to black culture" but what he really means is "i bought a Nelly cd for my kid and i had to listen to it on the way home but i don't wanna get beat the fuck up right now so i'm just gonna grasp these straws real quick"...


i'm high and i forgot where this was going...

What the hell have you got there? Some sort of alarm clock, maybe a power pack, a chain, several gameboys. All essential music making equipment.

You play an actual instrument right ?

By actual you mean like typical? No. I use a simple noise setup derived from effect pedals and microphones run into mixer inputs.

First input:
-Contact microphone (do research if you don't know what it is...) -> Boss Metal Zone

Second Input:
-Vocal microphone -> Digitech Death Metal

Third Input:
-Audio generator -> Digitech Grunge

Fourth Input:
-Feedback loop (FX Send of mixer to mono input) made of Digitech Synth Wah -> DOD EQ

Thus I've got four layers to control simultaneously...the feedback loop can get out of hand due to the nature of a loop so I have to watch the levels, constant changing of frequency boosts on the Metal Zone and movement of the contact mic over different surfaces, keeping vocals in check and making sure there isn't so much annoying high-pitched mic feedback (because it can overtake everything if you're not careful), and I have to carefully work with the EQs of the audio gen -> distortion because it sounds like crap with overdriven highs. After I record, I open the stuff up and listen to it, sometimes 3-4 times in a row and choose parts that would sound good repeated/looped...then i cut and paste random sections and repeat until I get a sound I like. It's not easy and it does take talent.

You couldn't be closer to the truth.

As for my "noise"-making, I didn't use all that fancy shit. Actually, my "compositions" were a compilation of interesting sounds I recorded, as well as different vocals styles and various instruments.

It's really, really not. I take what I do very seriously. I have no formal musical training, though. I've released stuff and played live, though. It's not as stupid as it looks or sounds...it's not just random crap, I do a lot of editing. It takes a lot less effort than most highly-structured and immaculately-produced music, but that doesn't means I put less than my all into it.

Good for you man. Not my thing, but respect anyway.
