Symphony X - Paradise Lost (NEW CD)

Personally, I don't really like the 3D art (or CGI as someone said before... I don't know) and think it would be better as a painting. Not too bad, but not even close to great. But if the release is October 10, I'm fucking excited (but I have a feeling it's going to be a bit later).
 
The art looks pretty cool to me, but I will wait for confirmation before I believe it.

I won't believe any dates until either the band confirms it or Jax does.

On side note: How was your trip Jax?:)

well it looks quite cool (considering it will be better when released)

for the updates, I dont need any new updates, maybe an approximate release date.
But they once said that they would release some kind of a diary and some movies? Is that still up to date? I know they should concentrate as much as possible on recording, but movies about them in the studio would be really awesome.
 
I'm a graphic designer, and judging from the criteria art directors look at before releasing work, I'd have to say it's either a preliminary piece still being worked at like someone mentioned, or it's fake. The band name and album title aren't exactly centered (yes that's meticulous, but that's how the design industry is), unless the posted picture here wasn't cropped exactly right.

But conceptually, I really like it. It definitely fits the mood of what one would expect from Paradise Lost and music relating to it. The monochromatic color scheme is awesome, and I love how the band's logo takes on that steely form. If this is the direction the cover is going, I'll definitely be pleased! As to the release date, CDs are usually released on Tuesdays, so wouldn't it be around the 31 of October? That would be bad ass, coming out on Halloween! :heh:

BTW, for all you 80's kids, does anyone remember the cartoon Silverhawks? That's what I thought of when I saw the armor-clad angel.

I totally agree, I guess the same picture would look better as a painting. It's still great though, except for the masks (looks like the artist didn't know where to put them in the picture).
 
:rock: Excellent! New Megadeth and Symphony X around the same time, this could be one of the best Halloweens! I am honestly dying of anticipation for the new CD, based on the updates we've had. I agree with Jax that it's good to just let them work further. Absence does make the heart grow fonder you know!
 
personaly i dont think it is real....

or at least not final

anyone that has ever dabbled with any kind of Computer Graphics should be able to tell that the logo at the top is not centered which makes it look very unprofessinal

all that said i do hope it turnes out similar to that

Yeah, I noticed the same thing about the non-centered title and some parts where things don't look right(like the masks).

And, yes, I remember Silverhawks(I watched them as a kid), and it looks kinda like a mix of it and Diablo 2

There is actually an official statment saying that there would be more info during july, and as the forums moderator, it´s natural that people are referring to you when nothing happens.
We all know that you are not hiding any info and noone blames you for going on vacation... So why the sarcasm??
If it bothers you that much, why keep going? Let J-Dubya handle it, he´ll have everyone banned within a week with his itchy-ban-finger (that really cracks me up by the way). No offence man.
You said it yourself, this forum sucks! Why? Because There´s no relevant SX talk whatsoever. It´s all "top 5 girls", "official OT", pic threads etc..
Having that said, I actually find it legit to ask the question (this time) whether this is correct info or not.. there should have been info in july and all of a sudden a cover pops up from another website?!

Don´t say that you´re gonna do something and then bash people because you failed to deliver. I mean, it´s not like someone just created a new "where´s the update thread" just to annoy you!
 
Jax...plz calm down! We don't mean to upset you. (and I don't think anyone is trying to pester you or J-DUbya...) their is one or two noobs who think an update is recquired... Well one is recquired to answer our on going questions and debate about the album cover lol. But its not needed! You know as much as we know, and you deserve vacation time as much as anyone else! People demand to much is all!

For the record... To EVERYONE, JAX and J-Dubya are probably as curious if this is real as we are...and when they get word they will share with us i'm sure! Untill than, how was your vacation jax?
