Get a hair straightener dude, I'm not gonna lie, the first year/year and a half the hair really sucks but that device helps.

How long have you been growing it Frank? My best advice is to wear it with a grin. It will look much better after a year or two. Even though my hair isn't that curly I just wrap a towel around my head after showering, much less curls. I wouldn't recommend straigtening it now, that would just look ultra ghey!

I rathered it straight than sheepdog when I had my fro. I don't know shit about hair but girls liked to style it for me so, they used to blowdry it and brush it straight that worked until my hair got longer.

Yeah, you are going through the 'awkward phase'. Thick curls are defiantly more work and require more time than fair straight hair. Keep growing it.
