the best and worst moments in metal

I like the band, i'm not an opeth fan boy, i don't even own one album as of yet, my sigs and dp aren't clotted with opeth praisings, i'm just sick of the bullshit critisiscm that could be going towards much more deserved shit bands.

It wasn't a dig at you specifically I just think that's why people would like to see them break up; so their fans will shut the fuck up about them.

It's not like Opeth have been devoid of criticism before they signed to Roadrunner. You should've been here when Blackwater Park was their newest release. Same shit.

I've only heard Natashead Overdrive by The Crown and did not care for it. I'm not big on Tomas Lindber like most people so never bothered to look more in depth with the band.

At The Gates,Tomas Linderberg,etc.. are overrated not Opeth.

Opeth is just a bunch of guys with long hair, jeans that like the outdoors. A lot of people like myself can relate to that, not that image is more important than music or anything.

It's not really about being metal or underground. It's about making great listenable enjoyable music. Not everything hears something thinking about other factors,people,etc.. into music. I'm not concerned with other people nor do I think Opeth are Trendy because of the music industry. Opeths music is a lot less trendy, typical than a lot of metal.

So tons of people all dressing like typical metalheads or people, bands all with the same music, image and less trendy than say Opeth. Maybe Opeth is not metal nor directed to people that think they're metal.

I don't know I just like the band. People into them or not give them attention, it never ends. Just shut up both sides

They're not celebrities.

First of all, regarding The Crown: Tomas Lindberg only sang on their album Crowned In Terror. The rest was all Johan Lindstrand, a better than average vocalist in my opinion. And Natashead Overdrive is not Tomas Lindberg. I'm not a fan of his either. Also, Crowned In Terror was rerecorded with Lindstrand on vocals. The song you heard is from their worst album. You'll want to check out one of their first four: The Burning, Eternal Death (their best), Hell Is Here and Deathrace King.

And do you honestly believe that Opeth are any more a 'normal group of guys' than any other band out there? Do you think they're unique? Do you know how many bands you described while describing Opeth? Considering Opeth is more widely praised than either At The Gates or The Crown, I'd say Opeth is more overrated regardless of the fact that I don't care for them.

The new album is awesome, and this is coming from someone who was disapointed by BWP and bored for most of Deliverance. I actually didn't intend on buying this album, but after hearing it I can't wait for it to come out. If you're a fan of the first four albums, you'll probably like this one a lot. Its like a proggier Still Life.

Well considering I think Still Life is their worst album and I don't like prog, what you said makes me very glad I never downloaded it out of curiosty. And for that I thank you.

worst moments:

the death of Quarthon
the breakup of Arcane Sun
the breakup of Regorge
Dissection breaking up and then reforming and going to shit
Megadeth coming back out of retirement, because they fucking suck
the formation of Six Feet Under
the formation of As I Lay Dying

You heard one song by The Crown and mentioned Tomas Lindberg who didn't even sing on that song. It was also from their last album (discounting the Crowned Unholy re-recording) which was pretty decent but lacking compared to their earlier efforts. I havn't heard their two "Crowned in Thorns" albums and havn't really been able to find them but Hell is Here, Deathrace King and Crowned Unholy (Yeah, the re-recording is better and Lindstrand kicked Lindbergs ass on it) are some of the best Death Metal albums I've heard.

To be honest, I really like Opeths older recordings (Orchid, etc.) but your logic in defending them is pretty weak. I also agree with the fact that Opeth fans are pretty shitty but I still think the band has some worth, though 95% of the time I listen to something else other then any of their newer albums.

I don't think The Crown are done. They'll be back.

I don't care if they don't record another album, I just want them to come on a US tour, they'd be a killer band to see live.

Lindstrand is involved in the One Man Army and the Undead Quartet band now, I think he's the only one that has gotten into anything of importance since their break-up so maybe they'll come back.

Best: 1986 = Best year for metal. (Master of puppets, Peace Sells, Reign In Blood, Darkness Descends, etc.)

Worst: Death of Chuck Schuldiner, Death of Dimebag, Metalica deciding to suck, COB being fanboy'd
