The Gaming Thread

I have not tried Dragon Age 2, but I intend to play it soon. Dragon Age was a good game, although I don't think I like it as much as most people seem to.

If DA 2 is dumbed down like griev0r mentioned I'm going to be pissed. I hate this dumbing down of interfaces that consoles are bringing about, I honestly think my biggest problem with Skyrim is going to be the interface being too user-friendly and not intuitive enough. Oblivion was a huge step back compared to Morrowind's menus.

And Max Payne 2 was an awesome game. I don't think the third is going to capture the magic and feel of the first two in any way, it looks like it's shaping up to be a very by the books shooter, complete with a bland and over-used desert terrorist setting.

The game although is suxxx

The combat is a bit more simplistic, but it doesn't affect things to the degree most rpg faithful would suggest that it does. Seriously is one of those genres were people just flip out when something changes ever so slightly from previous iterations. I don't personally like being stagnant.

More on if it is actually a good game or not later.

ah thats cool, maybe ill try the demo then, because as much as i love micromanagement in a game, being more simple isnt nessecarily a bad thing, how are the classes?

im still interested, maybe ill wait for a sale on steam, got no money right now

im still buying dynasty warriors 7 this month though :D

Not far enough in to give my full opinion on the classes and the like yet.

Mass Effect 2 was simpler than ME1 and it was a better game for it. Most time I can deal with simplified, until it reaches console tard levels. Some games I expect to have lots of details and complexities though, and I get frustrated when you lose freedom/options especially in menus and interfaces. Kind of like I can't stand strategy games without base & unit building. To me that is one of the biggest elements and if it's missing all I'm doing is playing an action game with a shitty perspective.

Oh, I certainly agree, however I don't feel the combat was dumbed down to that degree from what i've experienced thus far in the game. We'll see about when fights become more complex down the road here.

i was disappointed with the changes to ME2 at first, but once i got going i liked it, i sorta wish they had kept the skill system though :/

I think you'll feel the same about Dragon Age then. The differences really aren't nearly as severe as i've seen so many suggest. It simply works better.

Oh, and thus far the class progression / design looks to be on par with the first, though certainly not further developed.

My only form of discontent with it so far is that I've been having to drop the graphics down to Dx9 graphics rendering because of a glitch that is causing the game to crash on dx11 rendering. Bioware is apparently aware of the issue and patching it.

EDIT: The combat / skill system is still closer to the original DA than the change from ME1 to ME2.

Boys and girls it has come to my attention that many people are complaining about the fact that Crytek has lowered the graphics resolution on Crysis 2, what most don't realize is that the original crysis at the time for PC required at least a N GeForce 9600 to be able to play at full graphic quality. The 3D rendering program used to create Crysis1 and 2 is the Cryengine, it alo happens to be IMO the most advanced 3D rendering engine in the world next to some that are used for major motion pictures. If Crytek didn't lower the graphics for Crysis2 you would need at least a N GTX 580 to play it (oh fyi a single Sli GTX 580 costs about 1 grand) so be thankful for the fact that they managed to make a visually awesome game for multiple platforms and that it is still going to be as fun as Crysis1/ Crysis wars!

Also Sam Lake the writer of Payne sold out to Rockstar games outright. They are doing the storyline everything what a let down.

If anything it has short comings due to focus on console ports.

^this

also, crysis one was fun up until the aliens showed up, so crysis 2 i couldnt give less of a shit about :(

i mean, it went from bases full of guys running around, you grabbing them and throwing through houses, to this shit where the alien sees you, moves forward/left then forward/right etc etc until it reaches you...the game got stupid easy until the last boss

See i also think that PC gamers are more evolved into there hobby, me i just wnat to play the game i run a Compaq Presario S6700NX Windows XP SP3. I see no reason to upgrade nor would i want to. PC gaming isnt my thing but i do enjoy the 1st Half Life even though its older than The 1st version of The Matrix bout the only thing i can run. LOL
