The Gaming Thread

Oh man I used to play JKII online ALOT. Kinda random skillwise though and the "powerjump" got too exploited in the end.

Same here. I still remember gaming on that 18.8 k modem. The Gaming Zone...was also how I was first introduced to porn. Had a friend go to 'the gaming zone' vaguely after he bought the game so he could set up his account and he put in gamingzone.com which changed to thewhitehouse.com

I had 2mbit when Jedi Outcast was released though. :)
But I used to play QuakeWorld on a 14.4 modem back in the days, pinged ~300+ms to servers. :D

^get a ps3 :p

Hehe this is my one bane involved with the 360...their stock d pads are so horrible for fighting games. I was able to bare with it for MK vs DC Uni and Street Fighter and do well enough to be in the top 10 for ranked matches in MK vs DC uni for a few months, but I think the dpads on top of being bad got worse over time...and with the grueling pace / precision required in MvC games its just not happening. I can pull off my moves and combos just one round and rape face, and then the next round I can't even get one basic combo move off and get my ass beat because I'm trying to get it to freaking cast the entire match. I've been looking at different controller options with better d-pads, and even contemplated going with the tournament edition of the new MK for that fight stick even though I was really looking forward to the bookend statues from the Kollectors edition instead.

Yeah when Outcast came out my net was only at 56k...took till I grew up and moved out before I was able to obtain a decent connection. I was thinking of 28.8 in the previous post, though I did play on 14.4 at one point too. Its funny, because I remember playing JK on 14.4 and 28.8 and it working fine, but then later on NOT being able to play it on 56k.

Also I just realized everyone was talking about Outkast when I was talking about Jedi Knight : Dark Forces 2. XD Was the only Jedi Knight game that I REALLY got into.

haha yeah theres nothing worse than a shit dpad during a fighting game

really though, i only like the ps3 controller cause its basicly a snes controller, why mess with a good thing

I also used to play an old PC game similar to Dark Force 2, but I remember the maps looked better than what I saw on YouTube now, hmm, cant find it though.

My current addiction on my phone... PIXELMAN!

Keep in mind there was a ton of user made maps out there, and Mysteries of the Sith expansion added a good amount of maps too. And if you had an AMAZING 28 MB of RaM and a Voodoo card you could run the game at 'uber sexy, sleek graphics boost' levels XD.

Yep but I only played the stock game, and it looked better. It must be some other Star Wars game, cant find it on lucasarts either, gah, going crazy over stuff like this.
I had a Monster 3D VooDoo1 for QuakeWorld, awesome stuff! :)

Haha, it's funny thinking back to that hardware. I never had a Voodoo though, I opted for a TNT card that ran so hot the glue that held the heat sink (at that time just a piece of metal) in place melted while playing Unreal:).

Unreal is one of my long standing favorite games. It's hilarious in co-op (especially the sunspire level) and if you get really bored you can just start spawning hundreds of different monsters and watch them kick the shit out of eachother :P. When it came out the graphics and architecture was just amazing, it made Quake (which was its direct competition) look like shit.

Elder Scrolls : Skyrim gameplay trailer is out. Holy fuck this game has amazing graphics, and they finally fixed the stupid animation issues the old game engine had. Looks like all my free time is going back out the window on November 11 :D. I love Bethesda Softworks

This video shows a bunch of in-game footage, fucking epic man.

im still getting through 4

i didnt like it for a long time because i felt like there was nothing really of importance to do (i also only in my recent playthrough figured out fast travel, hope they change it to be more like fallouts, ie you have to reach a place to be able to teleport to it). more enemies wandering around would be nice.

anyway my point was i actually had it backwards, theres so much to do, its like a real........world you can explore. and because of that ive finished all the black hand stuff, become a vampire, ran quests for guilds across the land, and have barely made any headway into the actual story.

also hope there are more weapons/spells
