Boys and girls it has come to my attention that many people are complaining about the fact that Crytek has lowered the graphics resolution on Crysis 2, what most don't realize is that the original crysis at the time for PC required at least a N GeForce 9600 to be able to play at full graphic quality. The 3D rendering program used to create Crysis1 and 2 is the Cryengine, it alo happens to be IMO the most advanced 3D rendering engine in the world next to some that are used for major motion pictures. If Crytek didn't lower the graphics for Crysis2 you would need at least a N GTX 580 to play it (oh fyi a single Sli GTX 580 costs about 1 grand) so be thankful for the fact that they managed to make a visually awesome game for multiple platforms and that it is still going to be as fun as Crysis1/ Crysis wars!
Do you mean display resolution or texture size? Display resolution is at this point almost entirely useless. With anti-aliasing and anostropic filtering + advanced shaders and all that, you can play a game at 1200x960 and it'll look identical to 1600x1200. Besides that, art design and technology are a lot more important to a good looking game than numbers.
If anything it has short comings due to focus on console ports.
This is the truth
See i also think that PC gamers are more evolved into there hobby, me i just wnat to play the game i run a Compaq Presario S6700NX Windows XP SP3. I see no reason to upgrade nor would i want to. PC gaming isnt my thing but i do enjoy the 1st Half Life even though its older than The 1st version of The Matrix bout the only thing i can run. LOL
pc gamers are different, they have more of a sense of entitlement
but seriously, no PC will ever be better than a super nintendo
PC gamers just seem to have a different outlook on how a game should be. I think people that prefer PC versions, are those that want to maximize their experience. A mouse and keyboard offers more for the interface meaning you get more advanced options and customization, things don't need to be dumbed down for a controller. Mouse also has MUCH GREATER precision in anything that requires aiming.
Plus you have your modders like me, that can't help but try to make the game more exciting or look better or just make it crazy. Of course PC games also look a lot better side-by-side. To me a PC version is a more complete game that does not bar you to a simple controller or set of parameters.
I still love me some old school consoles though... Many of my best memories of games are from NES, SNES Genesis, Playstation and N64. After that PC/console games started to run into eachother and buying a console was pointless. Back in the day console games were a 100% different type of game than PC games. You'd never find a Donkey Kong Country on PC, and you'd never find Duke Nukem 3D on Snes (although it got ported to N64 much later)
