The heaviest band/album you've ever heard

There is certainly heavier BM than Darkspace, such as DSO's Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice. I agree with MOL, I would call Darkspace suffocating and oppressive as well as amorphous, but not concentrated HEAVY.

I disagree, but whatevs.

Crackdust - Dented Reality

Just got this, it's fucking heavy; not heavy as in brutal, but heavy in the same sense that Asphyx or Electrocution are (and it sounds somewhat like the latter). They are certainly the heaviest African metal band.

I don't find too much Black Metal to be considered heavy.

Call me an idiot but I have to mention the Guitar Hero 2 song Red Lottery by Megasus.

Heavy as fuck.

Black Sabbath: master of reality and 80's Candlemass recorded analog and heavy as fuck like if you were standing next to a marshall tube full stack cranked.

in the 90's you have guitarist who have very digital disortion and are hooking up a bunch of disorder pedals to guitars are it seems like producers are heavily compressing guitars because they can't figure out how to make things clear because guitarist have no idea how to get decent tone.

I think death metal is heavy, but hard rock/doom/ and rock bands are cranking nice tube amps and are more about heaviness than distortion.

Most death metal sounds like poorly recorded guitars run through solid state heads with 3 disortion pedals with someone producing who really wants to be somewhere else. I like death metal an all, but christ. I sometimes think what some albums would have sounded like if the bands had the money, gear, and right producers.

It's just hard for me to enjoy death metal anymore because it's like trying to crank shitty recordings and regardless how much you turn up your stereo it does matter.

I think once bands started going rock they started having loud heavy guitars, better recorded guitars,etc..

I deleted my Priestess part. I thought they were from the 70's, but they are new. The massive guitar tone really had me thinking they were 70's.

I prefer to think of heaviness in terms of oppressive atmospheres and moods. It also helps when a band is heavy in the sense of the word 'heavy' as it is normally applied to metal music. Here's some bands that really do it for me.

Disembowelment
Incantation
Dismember
Unleashed
Obituary

YES, Dismember's fucking churning brutal guitar/bass ton is what makes them HEAVY AS FUCK, but they also have this awesome melody to them that makes Dismember just fucking awesome.

EDIT: Nevermind I'm an idiot, Lebanon isn't in Africa.

For reasons which I am unable to fully articulate, I have always found Electric Wizard - Dopethrone to be extremely heavy.

As I am a non-illicit drug taker, I can only approach it from an alcohol influence - it is THE album to get utterly fucked up on spirits with.
